Bombed My House (O-Leo !)
by rubenmonkey
I got some food delivered from here at the end of last week. My work mates and I all ordered different things and all got terribly ill. I got three medicore steak tacos, another got a disappointing chicken enchilada, watery and sad, and another ordered a totally hopeless steak burrito. Because of our illness, we've called the city. It was a total disaster, we were all very, very sick. Please, we don't want anybody to suffer as we did. Also the food really wasn't that good. We all really love mexican food, used to eat it all the time and we can't eat it for a while. Thanks, Bamboleo, you've ruined something I love.
- Pros: none, really
- Cons: ill-prepared food ruined my weekend
Lousy food. Lousy drinks. Lousier Service. Oh, and credit card fraud!
by Cucaracha
Warning to all: Do not eat here. Do not drink here. And by God, if you ignore the first two, heed this: PAY CASH ONLY. As another reviewer has written, the credit card machine mysteriously "breaks" when it's time to pay, and they request you sign a handwritten receipt. Naive fool I was, I thought nothing of it. Signed my name and was on my way.
...Only to later check my account and find they'd charged me twice! Excellent. And I have no receipt to return because I wasn't given one. Yes, I was a fool. But you don't have to be. I showed up a few times later, called a few times. When I showed up in person, I was always told I would need to speak with a manager, who wasn't there that night - convenient, right? On my phone calls, I was told "it'd be taken care of" and never was - of course.
So don't get scammed like I was. My review involves their little scam over me, and maybe I wouldn't feel so burned if the food had been special or the sangria hadn't been weak and foul. If you're in the neighborhood, you can't sneeze without hitting a restaurant - go somewhere else. Anywhere else. You'll be better off.
To the owner and staff at Bamboleo: Shame on you.
- Pros: neighborhood - plenty of other, better options
- Cons: that this place exists
Never Ever Go Here!
by SullivanStreetChick
I live across the street from this place and have actually given it a try three times. Each time worse then the one before. I wanted to love it; it's across the street, I love mexican food, but everything about this place is so bad that I just can't. I have never been there without waiting at least 5-10 minutes for the server to even come and greet you, then usually another 15-20 from the time you order till your food gets there. The food runner is often an Indian gentleman who puts his thumb into your meal while serving it to you. Nice right? He is also the rudest and least helpful person on the planet. The food is below mediocre. The enchiladas are swimming in a watered down sauce and tortillas taste hard and old. They charge you extra for sour cream, a lot extra. The beans are clearly from a can and the fillings inside the burritos/enchiladas/tacos are pitiful. The drinks are so gross. Margarita's at this place consist of tons of ice, margarita mix, and salt. There is no way there is tequila in them. And the sangria is just a sad death for fruit. The food is overpriced even if it was good, the fact that it's god awful only makes the prices even more ridiculous. The wait staff does not care about you at all. The don't make any attempt to try and get you your food quickly or be polite or generally work. Never Ever Go Here!
- Pros: Good for people watching
- Cons: Food! Service! Waitstaff! Drinks!
