Editorial Review for Crumbs – by Kathleen Squires
In Short
There are few better places for NYUers to stave off the munchies than this cheery, pumpkin-colored bakery. Three dozen choices of colorfully iced cupcakes are the main attraction as they tempt the eyes and the appetite from pastry cases. Choose from nostalgic-flavored cupcakes like the Fluffernutter or Devil Dog; big, chewy cookies; old-fashioned style brownies; or an array of turnovers, croissants, muffins and Danishes. The bonus at this branch: comfortable linger-friendly seating tucked in the back.

Yuk! As the other reviews state, location does matter. I usually get Crumbs at 42nd Street and have fallen in love with their cupcakes but when I was rushing home and decided to grab one at this location I was surprised on the difference in taste. The cupcake was so stale! Weeks later I was in the Union Square area again and too lazy to go to another location I decided to give this location one more try (just in case it was a fluke). But yet again I was disappointed and vowed to never return. 8th Street Crumbs is off my list!
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything else

I love the cupcakes at Crumbs, but everytime I eat my cupcake at their store it seems like they never clean their tables and there's crumbs everywhere, on the tables and on their seats. The tables in the back of the store are always dirty. Your best bet is to take the cupcake to go, unless you want to eat it on a table that looks like it hasn't been wiped down all day.
Pros: Yummy cupcakes!
Cons: Dirty tables! Crumbs everywhere!
