Pricey Cupcake.
Never before have I tried such deliciousness in a cupcake. Our visit to crumbs was perfect. The place is clean, the staff is courteous and they have tables to rest. A perfect stop when in the city and you just want to unwind a bit. Besides cupakes they also have coffee and leomonade. Since you are looking at a high intake of calories, this is one of those places you go for a special treat on occassions. This is the size of cupcake that you dig in with a spoon. You may even want to share a cupcake with a friend or two. So sit around with your friends and dig up.
Only one thing that was hillarious and a bit unexpected from this last visit. That was that they now have a cupcake (not sure how long they have had it) called "Baba Booey". I have a few trucker friends and I know that "Baba Booey" is the advertising call and nickname for gay drivers on the CB radio used by truckers to communicate with one another. So it was crazy for me to have seen that they actually have one of their products by this name.
I had a "Raspberry Swirl", it has the tasty raspberry jelly in the middle of a moist vanilla cake. This one is not too overwhelming in sweetness.
"Caramel Apple" is another one of my favorite. It has chunks of apple filling which makes this cupcake so rich and tasty. This one is very sweet.
My little one picked up a "S'Mores". It is rich in chocolate and it was a bit too much for him. A very busy chocolate cupcake topped with marshmellows and graham crackers over chocolate frosting. I will deffinitely stick to the little cupcakes for children.
I am thinking of returning to try a "Margarita", which is the cupcake of this month. I wonder what surprise is in the middle.
Best Cupcakes EVER!!!. Just bought a lot of cupcakes for the holidays as gifts for friends and family and Crumbs went over really well! The Best! Nice clean establishment, great workers-5 Stars!
Pastel Cafe with Creative Cupcakes.
A cupcake junkie like myself has a love-hate relationship with New York's charming little industry here.
Cupcakes are not just delicious, but they're kinda fun to look at too. So while not much can go wrong here, the city's high barrier to attainment ($4 a cupcake - what?) makes it hard for me to not reach for a box of Betty Crocker.
When I do go out for cupcakes, it's all about the experience. Crumbs reliably entertains the senses / cravings here. The NYU area cafe is a great pick-me-up with its yellow pastel walls, red and brown cushy backed banquets, wood benches, and homey ceramic plates.
The cupcakes feature rich gooey frostings and fun flavors like pistachio, daredevil Tony Hawk skater cakes, the Hostess-like chocolate swiggly, raspberry swirl, tiramisu and s'mores. Ranging from $2.50 to $3.75 a pop, these baked treats won't disappoint. Though cupcake naysayers can also feast on homemade pastries, cookies, bars and tarts. Or try the mint ice-tea medley to wash it all down.
While the pistachio and traditional vanilla / chocolate frosting cakes gave me - and the southern visitors next to me - a huge sugar crash, Crumbs was doing just what it was supposed to: give the world a small treat to share for a few minutes in their day. And sometimes, that's all you need.
Perfect Birthday Treat.
On my way to work this morning I swung by Crumbs to pick up some cupcakes for my colleague's birthday. I love the exotic options and apparently so do my colleagues, the cupcakes were gone within minutes of the birthday candle being blown out.
Bonus: they had birthday candles and saved me a trip to the drugstore!
GREAT!.
I ordered cupcakes for my daughter 2nd BDay party and they were Great. The cupcakes was soft, moist and very tasteful. Great price and nice size
Thumbs up to crumbs
Cupcakes Not Good at this Location. Yuk! As the other reviews state, location does matter. I usually get Crumbs at 42nd Street and have fallen in love with their cupcakes but when I was rushing home and decided to grab one at this location I was surprised on the difference in taste. The cupcake was so stale! Weeks later I was in the Union Square area again and too lazy to go to another location I decided to give this location one more try (just in case it was a fluke). But yet again I was disappointed and vowed to never return. 8th Street Crumbs is off my list!
Yummy cupcakes, but dirty tables!. I love the cupcakes at Crumbs, but everytime I eat my cupcake at their store it seems like they never clean their tables and there's crumbs everywhere, on the tables and on their seats. The tables in the back of the store are always dirty. Your best bet is to take the cupcake to go, unless you want to eat it on a table that looks like it hasn't been wiped down all day.
DIFFERENT LOCATION, DIFFERENT TASTE................ I FIRST VISITED THE ONE ON 3RD.AVE AND I GOT SO HOOKED ON THE CUPCAKES,I ASKED MY HUBBY THE NEXT TIME HED BE IN THE CITY HE BETTER GET ME MORE, WELL HE WENT TO THIS LOCATION INSTEAD AND FOR SOME REASON THEY DIDNT QUITE HAVE THE SAME TASTE, I WAS A BIT DISSAPPOINTED.ALSO THE CHOC.CHIP COOKIES HAD COLORING ON THEM, IT LOOKED LIKE THEY PLACED THEM ONTO A TRAY THAT HAD RAINBOW SPRINKLES, SO THEY GOT SLOPPY ON THAT.BUT ID RATHER RETURN TO THE OTHER LOCATION, DONT KNOW WHY THERE WAS A TASTE DIFFERENCE, BUT I SURELY NOTICED..
delicious cupcakes, better than magnolia bakery!. These cupcakes have decadent, delicious frosting and are moist and satisfying- they cost a little more than Magnolia's (about $2.95 for the small ones, more for the larger/more elaborate ones) but they are definitely worth the extra cost- you can choose from a wide variety of colors and flavors and there are often themed or holiday-inspired cupcakes that would be so great for a birthday or party. Definitely recommended.
YUMMIE!. The cupcakes here are delish. I tried the Cappacino and Carrot Cake & they both were delicious. The cake was moist (even though it was nearly closing time) and the frosting was not overpowering or too sweet. I ate every CRUMB off the place. They are huge, so you may want to try the sample box. I also tried the Devil Dog one & that was good too. I am not a huge chocolate fan but I will eat anything chocolate at Crumbs! I will definitely come back to try out all the other flavors. The ones I wanted to try were all sold out because they're so popular!
