Horrible Service and not accomodating. I work around this area and have ordered from this place once too many times. At first, the food was great the first 2X but then they started charging me different prices for the same exact order everytime. When I spoke up about it, they pretended they had no idea what I was talking about yet I ordered from them once a week for lunch. I usually ordered the beef teriyaki The following week, another woman answered and completely refused to honor me the order and said they couldn't alter the menu which they have been 5X even with me agreeing to pay a little more for the beef. It's been about 2 months now and I must be glutten for punishment because I decided to give it another try but will stick to the chicken teriyaki, permissible on the menu. It comes with choice of sashimi. The order arrives with no wasabi, last time, no chopsticks. The place has horrible customer service by far THE WORSE I have ever experienced in my life. I never write on these review boards but this restaurant does not deserve a good rating AT ALL!!!! IDO SUX A$$!!!!! Bunch of keh sek kees!!!

STAY AWAY!!! RIP-OFF REPORT!!!. STAY AWAY...STAY AWAY....STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

I had a TERRIBLE experience here. I have lived in the West Village my whole life. 45 years. I have experienced every place in my neighborhood. These guys are DISHONEST. They have a 50% off sign but didn't honor the advertising. Hey...it is only money...MY MONEY....but getting fleeced in my OWN neighborhood...!?!?!?!?

Ok....now about the food and service. The service was terrible. The waiter was either inexperienced or just lazy. I have had alot better sushi and sashimi at numerous other HONEST places. About the only thing I enjoyed was the hot Sake. My total bill was $105 for 2 people and we left hungry. When I complained about them not honoring the 50% discount, the waiter quickly pulled out a card for the next visit. I told him..."You must do this alot, because I haven't even finished complaining and you are pulling out a coupon for the next visit!". The place is a total rip-off, stay away.

Best Casual Sushi in NYC. Ido Sushi is an example of why it is great to eat out in New York. This place has the highest quality sushi available at any level. The chef and owner prepares the food with creativity and fun. The flavor combinations are well balanced and delicious.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The owners and family are often present giving this restaurant a great welcoming neighborhood feel.

Seek it out and enjoy a fantastic dining experience.

I finally found my favorite sushi place!!. I have always been on the lookout for a sushi restaurant that is not only affordable but consistently serves high quality seafood. This is it! The staff is lovely and the owners Tora and Jane are always around to make sure your experience is top notch. The cozy, fun atmosphere is perfect for everything from a first date to a group meal. But most important is the food. DELICIOUS. They excel in everything from your basic sashimi to adventurous rolls, and when they have them, their hamma hamma oysters are phenomenal- fresh and light with a nice smooth aftertaste.

They also have opera nights on the first wed. of every month, which is very low key and fun- not the stuffy atmosphere I expected from an opera night.

I have never reviewed a restaurant on citysearch before, but I felt the need to let people know about my great find! My husband and I are now regulars...

Great sushi and great music, What a treat!. Ido Sushi is without a doubt, the best sushi in all of Manhattan. I was not crazy about sushi until I was invited by my friends Charlie & Loretta for my wife and I to join them. The minute I tasted Tora's Daisy Roll, I was in heaven. The combination of flavors that wake up your taste buds, along with the freshness of all the fish, make it an incredible treat. Also the atmosphere is warm and friendly. It starts with Tora and his wife Jane. They are remarkably nice, friendly and warm. They have become friends. There is also the live music that ranges from Opera Night to jazz and classical in the cozy little music corner that house a piano and drums. If you are lucky, you will be there on a Saturday night when A ten year old piano prodigy named Michael Davidman honors all present with classical pieces from his repetoire. He is unbelievable, and is on his way to stardom. I have also been known to warble a tune now & then. Do yourself a favor. Let Tora and Jane, and their wonderful staff treat you to a wonderful dining experience. You just might make some new friends along the way.

Everything was just perfect: sushi was great, service was also excellence & friendly, the place was really nice and comfortable, and food came out fast and delicious. We had a beautiful time there, and we will be back again indeed.

Great Sushi for a great price, Excellent Service, great for you a few friends/date. Whether it be after a a long day at work or a night in the town, you will definitely feel like you are at home. My friends and I were extremely satisified of the great variety the menu has to offer. The Sushi was fresh & great (especially the specialty rolls are to die for! Combo #2- my fave) and for its great price compared to Sushi Samba or any of the too highly priced sushi place where you come out hungry. Don't get me wrong, i absolutely love fine dining, and will pay for an exquisite meal, but this place surely is a hidden gem! Food was excellent, service was AWESOME, and the variety of choices, the freshness (most important), and the list of all the different kinds of sake! This is definitely a place you can go every day or night of the week! Friends, dates, dinner night alone... this place is great. If you know what good sushi is, this place is a go go!

There is no better sushi in NYC. My girlfriend moved into this neighborhood 1 year ago and we tried this place shortly thereafter. Since then I pretty much will not eat sushi anywhere else. The quality of the food, the incredible (and super friendly) service, and the reasonable prices make this a must-go. There is jazz and karaoke a couple of nights a week if that is your thing. The seared tuna roll is a must have FYI. Bottom line: one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan.
