Pleasant bar. I almost wrote a bad review, but this place is cool. There are good beers on tap and comfortable couches. I was over-charged by a beer, and when I called to complain I made the [drunken] mistake of saying the wrong number, but the bartender said he would "buy me one next time," which I guess is all he could do, although he did hang up on me afterwards, and I did feel like he might have been a little upset when we put on some songs on the jukebox and interrupted his playlist. BUT, overall, good experience and 4 stars...

As long as you don't bump into Weezy Jefferson reincarnate... ....and an 80 yr old David Bowie, you'll really enjoy this great, low profile bar. It's a no fuss, no muss, relaxed environment. If you have no particular qualms about a jukebox filled with a unique mixture of tunes, then you'll enjoy the selection - and it's cheap! Strong drinks are in abundance, so no need to get paranoid that the bartender's gonna play that "first-strong-drink-second-third-fourh watered down" game. Now, re the subject of my review, a few months ago, my sig other & I visited our fave bar just to have to deal with 2 freaks at the bar making eyes at him. We soon discovered that what we thought was an old, horny woman w/her decrepid crypt keeper husband were both male! We have no issues with that, but they wouldn't let up with the flirting, AND suggestive language when my babe went to the bar to refill our drinks. The long & short of it is that the Weezy Jefferson freak and an even more withered & wrinkled, embalmed David Bowie look-alike were escorted out for trying to start some kind of crazy fight with my hubby. The dead guy even had the nerve to try & explain to the owner that he was 75 years old, yada yada yada.. So, hopefully, Bar 82 hasn't allowed the freakish pair to return, otherwise, watch out for some weird bayou dancing & scarily unwanted flirting, unreciprocated, might result in a fist fight! LOL (just keep an eye out for them!)

Something for everyone in the East Village.. This East Village spot is somewhere between a laid-back neighborhood bar and a slick lounge; regardless, it has comfy couches, local beers and a good happy hour.

Great Bar. Just had my Birthday there this weekend. It was GREAT. The staff is wonderful. The drinks are good and not watered down. I def. recommend this place to grab a drink, happy hour and a Bday party. Bar 82 is not huge but not too small, clean, cool artwork and a nice pool table in the back Oh and a great music. Thanks to the staff I will be stopping by soon.

Unexpected.... ....surprise, this cute little place was. A friend and I had been walking around the East Village on Sunday afternoon (7/13/08) after having had a lovely brunch about an hour or so before we literally ran into Bar 82. It was indeed a pleasant stop off - we were hot and wanted a drink in a cool spot. The Happy Hour sign outside is what really drew us in, offering 2 for 1 well drinks, etc. I ordered vodka and cranberry and she ordered an Appletini. The drinks were strong, the atmosphere welcoming, the music good (someone had just loaded up the jukebox with some lovely oldies - from Do-op to Hall and Oates) and the bartender - so very gracious. My friend's Appletini was huge and I got my 2 for 1 well drink special - all together, 3 drinks came to a grand, cheap total $11 and another hour of our "girl's day out" was well spent at Bar 82. I am going back there and SOON!

one of the best bars in nyc, great everyday of the week.. bar 82 is one of the best bars i've been to in a long time. they have a chill-out kind of vibe with couches, low coffee tables, space to move around and a sweet internet jukebox. somehow you can listen to great music and hold conversations at the same time, its the perfect atmosphere. they have the friendliest staff in the world and do everything to make you feel comfortable.

i had my birthday party there last weekend and everyone had such a great time. between the pool table, great drinks and even company - what else could you ask for? i will be going there for a long time, and bringing everyone i know with me.

i love 82. I just found bar 82 and I love it! It's right around the corner from my house so my roomate and I have been going pretty regularly. It has a pretty chill atmosphere during the week and a great party crowd on the weekends. It's always alot of fun and we loooove the bartenders! It's a pretty new bar and I hope it does well. After work drinks wouldn't be the same without those velvety couches that we're growing so used to.
