In Short – Diners are in and out fast at this homey vegetarian spot where wood farmhouse tables and comfy booths line the restaurant's weathered brick wall. The low-key crowd devours specialty veggie burgers made with ingredients such as portobello mushrooms, pesto, soy bacon and chipotle barbecue sauce. The restaurant also features seita dishes, served up in Thai flavors like peanut, lemongrass soy and mandarin orange. Vegans get a sweet surprise with the dairy-free dessert menu.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Don't plan on ordering wine with dinner; the beverage list is alcohol-free.
Brunch:
Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 4pm and offers up traditional fixings such as pancakes and waffles made with healthful ingredients along the lines of organic whole grains and buck wheat.

  3. I'll never know what Quantum Leap's food is like.
  4. Most amazing brunch (pancakes, waffles, vegetarian scramble); Incredible burgers (Fire rock especially!)
  5. There are two superior health-food restaurants within walking distance -- Organic Grill at 1st Ave. and St. Marks, and Counter at 1st Ave. and 5th St. Do yourself a favor -- skip this place, walk the extra few blocks, and enjoy a meal somewhere else where

wait time

  1. They suggest take-away, but the wait whenever I've tried that is ridiculously LONG as they are extremely slow - I have never waited for less than 30 mins, so have given up on take-away too.

Tried it many times, wish I could like it

by crabby when hungry

I have given this place multiple tries. I want there to be a casual neighborhood place with lots of good vegetarian options in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, Quantum Leap usually disappoints.

There are some good things on the menu: for example, the vegetarian curry, the miso soup, and the portobello sandwich. But whenever I have strayed from those three items, yuk! Today's vegetarian club sandwich was the last straw. A dry, stale mess featuring soggy lettuce, tasteless veggie patty and something rubbery that tasted like freezer burn. It was disgusting and basically inedible. There's no excuse for serving something like that.

  • Pros: vegetarian food available
  • Cons: tastes bad

Good enough food, spotty takeout

by opinionz

Got takeout here and it took longer than most places. Got home and found that they were rather stingy with the yam fries (which were a touch greasy but good overall) and they forgot my Diet Coke. I'd say double check before you leave! $14 overall felt like a bit much for the meal.

  • Pros: yam fries, vegetarian food, junk food health food
  • Cons: takeout service, price, portion

Most amazing brunch (pancakes, waffles, vegetarian scramble); Incredible burgers (Fire rock especially!)

by EastVillageLover

This place is amazing. They have a delicious brunch with a ton of options; I only wish the brunch was available every day instead of just weekends! The service has improved a lot over the last several months. Though they've tended to botch my delivery orders a bit, I always end up enjoying what they send. I literally eat here twice a week at least, and I know the vegetarian restaurant scene pretty well. Delicious!

I work here...

by veronicastarfish

I work here and love the food... :-)--try the burgers--especially Fire Rock, try Dos Enchiladas, Seitan Satay, Yam Fries, Zen Platter...aahhh, so many goodies!

Just read reviews...we are pretty slow...sorry about that, we've tried to change it, but it still happens--and please DON'T blame your server...it's Definitely NOT our fault...we've tried EVERYTHING!! (yes, management knows!) so we will try and give you the BEST service until it arrives--- :-). thanks

As for Ave C...our delivery guy got muggedTWICE delivering there (nowhere else). So I guess some stereotypes hold true to some degree. sorry for the inconvenience.
