A Special Secret for Those Lucky Enough to Know About It – I have never understood salons with a huge storefront window where the clients were in chairs on display to everyone passing by on the sidewalk. There are things that the world doesn't need to see, like a woman with a head full of foils or color glopped on her head. When I was introduced to A Private Studio almost 20 years ago, I loved that it was in a residential building facing the back. They've since moved from the UWS to Chelsea, but the feeling remains the same -- it really is private, and you can feel comfortable letting your hair down, literally and figuratively.
Laurance is incredibly skillful and helps you make good choices. He's my man, but on the rare occasions that he was away I've seen his associate John and have always been happy with the results. Their assistants also have always been lovely and extremely solicitous.
I'm pretty sure that they've never advertised the business -- it's all word of mouth, which contributes to the feeling that you're a fortunate member of a secret club. It's a testament to their work that so many clients have been with them for years, and many who move to the suburbs still travel back to the city for their services. Also, many clients marry, have children, and eventually bring their children in for their haircuts as well. A Private Studio is like another family away from the one you have at home.
Beautiful Hair, Great Blowouts, Outstanding Personal Service & Truly A Haven Of Relaxation – I remember the first time I walked into A Private Studio. Over that last year, I had already been to about ? dozen hair salons and was never happy with the results ? cut not flattering, color totally off, uncomfortable atmosphere- you name it. So when I arrived for my free consultation with Mr. Laurance LaCause, I was feeling very discouraged. But not for long, I found myself in this warm, intimate salon and I remember saying to myself, ?oh my goodness ? he actually gets it?. And 17 years later, he and Mr. John Haracopos still ?get it?. A Private Studio recently moved from their original location, which was down the block from where I live, to 6 subways stops away and I still go there twice a week
I have been to other salons when I have traveled out of New York City and the less then satisfying experiences only serve to increase my belief in the talents, the ambiance and the personal, special care I and all other clients receive at A Private Studio. I am a grandmother of 2 boys and nobody believes it.- and the credit goes to Laurance LaCause and John Haracopos for the absolutely gorgeous work that they do. Sometimes, it is also just a lovely place to go and visit, have a glass of wine and chill for a bit.
If you want to look great, relax in a charming, warm and elegant place, don?t walk, RUN to A Private Studio.
