“They open-air atmosphere was nice, & the traditional brunch dishes were made special & interesting w/ Southwestern flair (e.g. chipotle hollandaise for the eggs benedict).”
“It comes with small tortillas, fresh black beans, AWESOME seasoned rice - so good, and plenty of guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo.”
“It wasn't the most amazing Tex-Mex cuisine I've ever had, but it certainly was good.”
“The service was warm & sincere but we didn't have certain condiments on our table & the staff got too busy to come by before we gobbled up all our meal!”
“This restaurant mini-chain (there are 3 locations) has great tex-mex food at reasonable prices.”
Wonderful time to be had. This restaurant was a joy. It was a part of my tour and I loved every minute of it the quesadillas were delicious and the service was great!!! Margaritas are nice and strong and they make these fried tortillas with cinnamon sugar that are a joy... A Upper West Side must go!
Watch what you order. This place has a really cool vibe. It's breezy and very open. I love coming here near the end of my night b/c they serve food pretty late on the weekends. The maragriatas are great! I can have 2 at the most and then I'm done haha. I wish the nachos were a bit better but that doesnt sway me from going back.
not great. The food's okay, but not worth the money. I remember thinking that the salsa was just chunks of tomato soaked in a little bowl of water. Frozen margaritas are good... and the nachos aren't bad either.
Fresh Mexican food!. I have not eaten there, only gotten take out once, but it was so good. The guacamole is the BEST I have every had. If you order the guacamole appetizer it comes in a pint container (like for soups at Chinese restaurants). Really, it is a ton of guac. Chunks of avocado, fresh tomato, so creamy. I also had the chicken fajita. It comes with small tortillas, fresh black beans, AWESOME seasoned rice - so good, and plenty of guac, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The ingredients taste really fresh, and it is just really really good food. I am definitely ordering from here the next time I want Mexican. Highly recommend!!!
Great atmosphere. Great Staff - very friendly.
Nice drinks and Gaucamole...we are vegetarian so I wish there were more options. Meat looked good!
Relaxed Atmosphere with great food and service. I go to this place occasionally since it tis around the corner from my apartment. The service is friendly and very prompt No pretense here what soever...but it is not a dive by any means. It is warm and cozy. the food is great as well. I recommend the Calamari, mushroom quesadilla, and the mussels WOW! Plus the prices are so cheap for the quality of the food I feel a bit guilty. I highly recommend!!!.
Exceptional Margaritas; Great for private parties. My wife and I recently had our wedding reception at the UWS Cilantro, and we couldn't have been more pleased. Since we were on a tight budget we opted for a cocktail reception format with passed hors d'oeuvres. The chef is a former tapas restaurant owner, and he did a fantastic job whipping up fun and tasty small eats. We got so many compliments from friends and families about how much they liked the food and loved the margaritas (mango margarita is sublime). The owner was great to do business with, honest and fair. Would do it all over again.
Great brunch!. We were in the area recently looking for an inexpensive brunch & were pleasantly surprised at how great our meal here was. They open-air atmosphere was nice, & the traditional brunch dishes were made special & interesting w/ Southwestern flair (e.g. chipotle hollandaise for the eggs benedict). The service was warm & sincere but we didn't have certain condiments on our table & the staff got too busy to come by before we gobbled up all our meal! Oh well, it's all good...
Unexpected Surprise. After reading reviews of other Cilantro locations, we expected to be disappointed with the food. However, we took a chance and we're glad we did. We were seated promptly. Our drink & food orders were taken pretty quickly. We hadn't waited more than 5 mins and the food was at our table! I was shocked; I've never gotten food in NYC that quickly. My girlfriend had the chicken enchiladas, which were really good, while I had the steak fajitas, which were also very tasty. It wasn't the most amazing Tex-Mex cuisine I've ever had, but it certainly was good. Our server was incredibly gracious and checked on us periodically. Overall, a very (unexpected) good time, and on a Saturday night no less.
Editorial Review. Tex-Mex cuisine is served amid Southwestern decor at the mini-chain's Upper West Side location.
