5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I have been in the field of Chinese Medicine for many years as a pharmacist, educator, and practitioner. Healing and Prevention is one of the very few Chinese Medicine practices that is specialized in anxiety and depressive disorders. Stacey VanGorder, the chief clinical practitioner, was one of the first in our profession to distinguish herself and her practice with in depth knowledge of mental health from both Western and Chinese Medical perspective. Her reputation and dedication in this specialty has many of us in the profession referring her patients with these special needs.

Pros: comprehensive approach, beautiful clinic, psychiatrist on staff...

Cons: parking non-existent

I first consulted Stacey about a year and a half ago after being diagnosed with Graves Disease, an autoimmune disorder associated with hyperthyroidism and eye problems. I didn't want to follow the Western medical recommendations of my endocrinologist because the choices (medication or radiation) had side effects associated with them and I didn't have many symptoms. Stacey was willing to take me on and do whatever she could to improve my condition. She began acupunture treatments and herbal medicines and began encouraging me to make dietary and exercise changes that also could help. At each visit, Stacey was patient and attentive and took time to talk with me prior to the treatment to assess and address stress from daily life, my condition and the changes I was attempting to make. Stacey is gentle, but determined, and creates a safe and supportive environment for you to get help with whatever difficulties you may be having. She takes a holistic approach and in my case, her efforts really paid off. My doctors are surprised and impressed at the positive results, which are proven by improvement in all the relevant measures in lab tests. I highly recommend Stacey as a practitioner with a wonderful presence and the skills to match, and with the results to prove it!

Pros: Effective, affordable, supportive, accessible by public transportation

Cons: Not always covered by health insurance depending on your plan
