Delicious and Intimate. My wife and I decided to pop into Peri Ela last week in search of something different in the form of Turkish cuisine. The space itself is very quaint and intimate, with a classic ambience. There were only twelve tables or so total plus a full service bar. The atmosphere is why I give this an extra star, it just had something you don't get at your every day 2nd avenue resturant.

We started with a stuffed eggplant, which was great. For dinner I had the beef dumplings in a yogurt sauce and my wife had chicken kebabs. We loved our food.

We will be back soon...and if not to eat just to sit at the bar and have a drink.

Worth the trip for a Tasty and Enjoyable Dining Experience!. Great local restaurant. Food is wonderful, and waiters/bar tenders are friendly and welcoming. The space is cozy and nicely decorated. I reccommend the yogurt and meat entree served in the small casserole dish, fantastic. Also the feta stuffed filo dough for appetizer is great as well. If you still have room for dessert try the Baklava it is a sweet and tasty end to a very nice dinning experience. We have made this one of our regular stops in the neighborhood.

Reheated frozen meals. I was in the neighborhood and stopped by for lunch - the place was practically empty with only 4 other diners there. I ordered the 3-course prix fixe lunch at $19. It took 20 mins before I received my appetizer of babganoush, which was totally average and came with stale bread. Then 25 MINUTES LATER the main course of talapia arrived - it was the spongiest, most flavorless, reheated piece of frozen fish I've had since eating in my high school cafeteria. The potatoes looked and tasted suspiciously like frozen Ore Ida Diced Potatoes and the white rice was drenched with oil. The dessert was Bakklava and it tasted like some Sam's Club version of bakklava.

On the plus side, the waiter was slow but nice and the coffee was good, but I didn't have to drink it as my lunch had already taken nearly 1 hour & 10 mins.

A favorite neighborhood restaurant. Peri Ela has become a regular stop for me. The space used to be a dingy diner and they managed to revamp it into a beautiful and cozy restaurant. It's small, but if you have to wait for a table, the food is worth it. The phylo and feta cigars are a favorite of mine, as is the lamb baked with pita and yogurt sauce. The owner and waitstaff always make me feel at home here. Unfortunately it's cash only, but the food and servce make up for it.
