Mediocre at Best. Whoever said this was the best vegan in the city must not have eaten at any other vegan resto in the city. I've had organic frozen entrees that were tastier than the food here. The sauce on my faux meat entree was also so bland that I'm shocked that the owners are from the Caribbean, as one reviewer states. Maybe the owners are from the Caribbean, but I'd love to know who the head chef is and who created the menu. "Brown" rice was white rice with carrots and peas, which seemed very much like the frozen/canned stuff my mother served us when I was a child. Best part of meal was the hush puppy appetizer, which was free, given out like bread. One of the reasons this was the best was I think it was the only thing that was cooked in house. The dessert list looked tempting, I asked if the desserts were all healthy and vegan, and the answer was yes. If the coconut cake that I got wasn?t one of those frozen Pepperidge Farms numbers then I?ll eat my hat. The staff is friendly, butd oesn?t seem to know much about vegan preparations. Like other places in the city, vegetarian means creating foods to taste like meat, rather than focusing on the taste, texture and possibilities of vegetables, legumes, grains, etc.

Delicious Vegan Food. I love Cafe Veg. Everything I've had from them has been delicious from the veggie Chicken Salad wrap to the Mac & Cheese. Plus, the staff is great and really friendly. And their desserts are phenomenal. I'm never disappointed when I eat there.

Best vegan dining in the city!. Everything about Cafe Veg is wonderful: the staff are so friendly, the dining room is perfect for friends, dates, and eating alone, and the prices are reasonable. Plus, it has the best vegan food in the city, hands down (excepting CV's more casual sister restaurant, Uptown Juice Bar). The owners are from Trinidad (I believe) and they know how to use spices to make the food flavourful without being mouth-burning or overpowering. They have such a great selection; you can eat something different all the time. I've taken many of my die-hard meat-loving friends here, and everyone has loved it!
