the most fun restaurant in the city. When i come to the city, i always come to this place- every time I come with the friends and family it always seems to exceed my expectations and eclipses my previous visit. I went last week and had some great meals ( dinner one night and late night another)....The pastas were better than i expected - Pumpkin Ravioli and my wife had a great Duck confit sandwich. My kids had delicious sliders ( the seasoned waffle fries are addicting)...the late night stop happened after a Book of Moron show ( equally awesome, hilarious but a little inappropriate for kids under 14 if you ask me)...

Anyway we had the red Velvet cake, the Coconut cake, the NYC Balckout cake and some ice creams- every dessert was off the hook and we finished every crumb. Of course you come here for the singers and if there are any Broadway producers reading this- get down there and check out these kids singing their hearts out- tons of talent on the floor at ellens. Definitely worth going to when in the Big Apple.

Lots of fun, very entertaining. I lived in the city until recently, and I always liked to bring my grandmother to Ellen's Stardust Diner when she visited. She requested it! The atmosphere is a lot of fun, and the music is great. It's a busy place, so if you happen to stop by at peak mealtimes, you may end up waiting in line. Plan accordingly! Always enjoyed my meal and my entertainment.

Great pre show entertainment. Took the family to go see Mama Mia and decided to have dinner beforehand. What a great place to get food and watch a show before your show! The price was great when you consider the location and the wait staff was extremely friendly. Between having a great conversation with our waiter (I think his name was Dono) and listening to great live music, this place was a blast. Oh and my 9 year old love it too!

show before the show. Its a diner, its time square, its people in NYC trying to get into show biz.

Its got the real sock hop feel that so many people like, good is good...its a diner...with a sock hop feel. If you dont know what to expect on your way in, you shouldnt be there. No pheasent under glass, and yes, its not the fastest diner in the world. They are performers for crying out loud. This is a show!

If you are in from out of town and want some entertainment during dinner hit this place. If you are a fan of coca cola, grease, sock hops and checkered floor tiles you are gonna love this place!

fun touristy thing to do. We've lived in NYC for 15 years and despite walking by Ellen's Stardust probably once a day for a decade, we finally visited recently when my 13 year old cousin was in from town. As a general rule we would not normally patronize any place around Times Square because it would be swamped with tourist and overpriced mediocre food... which is indeed the case here.

However, if you're visiting from out of town and are in the Times Square area anyway, and don't want to pay for and sit through a broadway show, its a great way to get a little taste of the broadway experience while chowing down on some basic diner grub... the atmosphere is fun and social '50s diner themed and would be entertaining for kids of all ages. The wait staff are certainly nice enough, but more interested in the singing and less on the waiting tables part... so service is a bit lacking.

Bottom line: it is what its is which is a fun family friendly "destination restaurent" which caters to tourist doing the "broadway" thing on their trip to the big city... so if that's what you're looking for you found the right place!

Was very Disappointed. I was very excited to go to Ellen's Star dust Dinner this weekend and ended up being very disappointed. The wait staff didn't sing very well and they seemed much more interested in their singing then in their serving the food. We had to wait over an hour for our meals and our waiter left alot to be desired. He was very rude and didn't do a great job making us feel welcome. Also having a bucket put in my face during my meal to support people for voice lessons, acting etc was very tacky since I would already be tipping 15%. I shouldn't have to feel pressured to give money to people who should be paying for their own things. I for one will not be going back to this establishment and will not reccomend it to anyone I know.

Loved the food, the staff, the atmosphere. Fun foods(maybe overly priced) ; the staff are most all top notched performers; it can be very crowded; do NOT go close to your showtime; you will never get seated and back to your show in time!

Do NOT miss Ellen's if you are visiting NYC.

Absolutely Fantastic!. Absolutely Fantastic! Went on a referral and my family was completely satisfied. Spent a little more for the food but got a show! We would go back for sure. My 9 year old daughter wants to move to NY and work at The Stardust Cafe

Bad experience. I read many reviews on Ellen's and decided that it was the place to take my granddaughter for her 10th birthday. My elderly in laws were here from the west coast, and total in our party was 10. I even called the week before we went to the city to make sure they could seat all 10 of us together for this ocassion. I was told it wasn't a problem. We arrived at 2 on Thursday afternoon, and they tried to seat us ALL in a triangle shaped booth. There was no way we'd all fit. We asked if we might all sit together and they refused to let us move to seats that would accomodate all of us. (those seats were saved for couples only!!!???) My husband, my sister in law, and I, had to sit away from the birthday table! My granddaughter was upset, and the food was undercooked (her hamburger came out almost raw!) The only good part of this restaraunt was the singing. The service and the treatment we got was AWFUL! I wouldn't go there again.

Fun. I usually eat out alot and I like trying new places. I saw this diner after coming out of meeting so I decided to go in. The food was good. I really like the wings and the burger I order was huge. My waiter was really friendly and sweet. I love the music and the singing since I got to sing along. I recommended this place to all my co workers and plan going back many times. It is pricey but its time square so no big deal.
