What People Are Saying About Star Lounge

Featured Review

In Short – At the Manhattan outpost of this established East Hampton club, Charles Ferri vies for a scene that's just as elite. Whether its location under the famously gritty boheme hotel gives it more or less cache is up for debate, but allusions to the hotel's past do add character to its three simple rooms. Specialty cocktails personifying hotel guests, such as the Addict, a cranberry-Red Bull concoction, can be sipped at the sexy bar, on the main room's low-slung banquettes or, if you're lucky, in the VIP room.

Editor's Tips

Fun Fact:
The VIP area is called Room 100, the room where Sid purportedly killed Nancy. Black-and-white portraits of crystal chandeliers add a bit of glamour, and a curtain separates the space from the main area.
DJ:
A few local names spin house, hip-hop and more hits in the main room regularly.
When to Go:
Call to find out when karaoke will be happening next.
ambiance

  1. gave this place 3 stars because the lounge is small and cozy with a nice decor, the bartenders are nice, and the adorable Heather Graham was in the VIP room.
drinks
0.0% positive
  1. This is an awful, pretentious place that is not that nice, only has one small bar, no dance area, and the music was not good.
overall
100.0% positive
  1. Like I said before, it's hard to get in, but as soon as you are in, it's a very nice place.
service
25.0% positive
  1. Table service is TERRIBLE.
  2. Men are dogs and people are rude.
  3. gave this place 3 stars because the lounge is small and cozy with a nice decor, the bartenders are nice, and the adorable Heather Graham was in the VIP room.
  4. The owners try to portray this place as glamorous and exclusive, and it's an insult to go inside and look at all the unattractive people.

One of the hottest New Year’s Eve 2011 bashes is going down in the Chelsea Room! Located in the basement of the legendary Chelsea Hotel, the latest venue to explode onto Manhattan’s party circuit is a legend in its own right. Out with the old and in the new had to have been the new owner’s mantra when they stripped the space down to its circa late 1800’s brick walls and ceilings removing any trace of its former predecessors, the celeb-studded Star Lounge and prior to that, hipster-studded Serena.

Chelsea Room – new name, new décor, new vibe and some of the most newly energized guests on today’s nightlife scene. Nestled under the neon sign of the famed hotel, saunter down one flight of stairs and discover the new Chelsea Room. The ambiance and layout sets the perfect tone for an explosive yet intimate party vibe. Subterranean chic all the way, Baby! Seductively low lights, polished oak floors, two bars, dance floor and custom leather VIP banquettes built so you can perch on top over the smoldering hot party scene.

Had a corporate event here

by arielle winters

The firm I work with had a corporate event at Star Lounge which is located in the Chelsea Hotel. My experience was terrific, and I look forward to going back when I'm not in a work setting.

Our firm had AccessGotham arrange the party and everything couldn't of went smoother. If you ever need a party planner check them out, and there services are free! Hands down the best in the business.

Bartenders were social and down to earth.

Strict Door?

by boodoogal

I went to Star Lounge for a charity event. I was told that the strict door policy goes into effect after 10pm, and the regular crowd is exclusive. Honestly the crowd looked like the average B&T to me. There was another party going on, but it seems like the bouncers were letting anyone in. I saw lots of people casually dressed in jeans. I gave this place 3 stars because the lounge is small and cozy with a nice decor, the bartenders are nice, and the adorable Heather Graham was in the VIP room.
