How many places in upper upper Manhattan can pull off a mouth-watering, summer outdoor brunch on a Saturday and a winter night of boozing and fun on a Tuesday? Hell if I know!

Overprice -and disorganized. This place is horrible. It gets so crowder that it gets dangerous. If there is a fire I don't know how people are getting out. It took me 10 minutes to get a drink and the bartender ignores people. They need better management and better training. Don't waste your money here.

Don't Go If You're Hungry. Been here a few times. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I love the atmosphere. And the food is very tasty. But, don't go if you're hungry. First you have to wait at least 45 minutes for a table (if you're lucky). Unless you know the manager, then you get seated right away. Second, the service is extremely slow. We didn't get water until we got up to ask for some and then our orders weren't taken until a half hour after we were seated. Then our appetizers come a half hour after we ordered. Then after our appetizers were cleared away, our entrees didn't come out until a half hour later. I know they're very busy, but that is ridiculous. Third, the portions are very small. The appetizers are tasting size and the entrees are appetizer size. And top it off, the drinks were watered down. After nine drinks, three appetizers, three entrees and two desserts, we still had to go to McDonald's two hours later. This is coming from someone who wears sizes 2-4 so you can't say I'm a big person who needs more food.

I love going there-always bring out of town friends.... I lived in Washington Heights for a long time, and have always loved Mamajuana's (definitely try the Sangria!!) Now that I live in Brooklyn, I love it even more. I always bring my out of town friends here (even though many of them are from Miami and have been to the one there) and go often on dates. The environment is great, and they are always busy, so a quick turnaround is the name of the game. The food is nothing short of amazing, and I can not think of a time when I did not enjoy going there. It is definitely worth the ride in from Brooklyn!

Never going there again. The decor is nice and welcoming but once we sat at our table points were automatically deducted. No free starters and no drink specials. I asked the bartender if they had any drink specials and he looked at me like I was an idiot. The drinks were watered down and we had to request them to add more alcohol. One of the hostesses was complaining about how we were still at the table when they had people waiting...We still hadn't finished our bottle of wine! Surprisingly I was the only one in the group that liked the food, to the others it was mediocre at best. Oh, the waiter didn't even refill my water! The gratuity of 18% is added to the bill which in this case was not earned. The reason we went there was because of good things said by word of mouth, but you won't see any of us in that place again!

Ew...Cockroach Spoiled My Appetite!!. So my friend and I had heard about this place and popped in last nite for a bite. Great outdoor seating, which was taken so we were holding out for a table to enjoy the full experience of the place, and it was a beautiful nite. So we go inside to have a drink at the bar while we wait. I look over and THE BIGGEST EFFIN COCKROACH YOU EVER WANT TO SEE runs right across the room, under some unsuspecting diners table. I was like OMG! My friend didnt see it so hes like, no big deal. A few minutes later its back, running across the middle of the floor. He sees it, jumps up and squashes it! Gross!

Now granted it could have come in from outside and is not necessarily indicative of the cleanliness of the kitchen or restaurant itself, but the thing is, you just dont know. And it wasnt running FROM the outside, but as if it came from somewhere in the back. Disgusting. So we declined to eat there and the manager came over asking what happened and promised us their kitchen was very clean, blah blah. He should have offered up free drinks or entrees. If ever there was an instance where you would comp someone that would have been it. I may not have taken the offer but it would have been a good show of customer service. So between the GINORMOUS cockroach and the poor managerial save, I dont think I will try this place out ever, sadly.

Lo Maximo!. Amazing!!!!

When my non-Dominican friends ask me for good Dominican food this is where I take them. Everything in the Menu' is great, makes me proud to be Domiminican. I've been to the one in Miami and the food is great there too.

The other thing is that they actually have Brugal which is the best rum ever!

Mamajuana's Is Buenoooooo!!! LOL. I took my mom and her friend to this restaurant to check out a different type of restaurant and we were not disappointed! You could say it was her Mother's Day gift even though it was actually the day before Mother's Day. I figured it might be too packed on Sunday, so taking her the day before would be a wise move.

The food we ordered was a sampler appetizer and also a main course seafood combination that were both delicious and fulfilling. I had that mamajuana mojito which tasted great and gave me a nice buzz as well. :-) My mom had the sangria and she liked it, while my mom's friend just had a beer.

My mom and her friend enjoyed the restaurant very much because we went on a beautiful night and we got to dine outside the restaurant and enjoy the cool breeze and overall night time atmosphere.

For those complaining on the long wait, well you need to think about this. Maybe you need to get a reservation beforehand because when you analyze it, Mamajuana is a not that big of a restaurant in size and there is apparently a high demand to eat there. So when you factor into the equation of going there on a popular night to go out eating (Friday & Saturday night), a long wait should be expected. Olive Garden in Times Square is a longggggg wait time and that restaurant is pretty big!

Anyway, I would tell all the people who are reading these reviews to just go to the restaurant and experience it for yourself.

Just remember to accommodate yourself to get parking at a garage and to choose WHEN you go WISELY, so that you don't have to wait more than you would like.

I guarantee you that once you experience the food and drinks there, you will LOVE IT!

Amazing Spanish Food!. Mamajuana serves a great variety of tasty tapas. There is everything you can think of. The Mamajuana Cocas are awesome! The restaurant is great and very relaxing. You don't have to wait long, and the wait staff is very attentive. If you like tapas, this is the hidden gem! Great experience all around.

Good place to get together with a group. I went there recently and it definitely adds more flavor to the neighborhood. I tried the sampler and it priced about $35 a bit pricey but the food was good filled w/ Tapas, shrimp, chicken and platano maduro topped with which seemed to be bacalua (codfish)..yum! Average meals costs around $25, appetizers $10.
