Being a frequent club goer I have some expectations. I like the club decor to be up to par, the people- goodlooking, and the music fun. Azza had that and some. I went their with a mixed group, about 3 guys and 4 girls. We didn't make reservation, but did get a table at the door. The doorman was in normal doorman mood. Snotty but accomadating. The decor itself was beautiful and the waitresses even more so. We had a fantastic time, the music was great, and the service fantastic. I would go back any time. For a place to be located in such a desolate area yet be that good of a club, I think that deserves some stars if not all of them
Pros: Staff, decor, music
Cons: the area is dead

Would you ever think that there is a club in NYC that you couldn't get into even if you fulfilled the door criteria perfectly? I went to Azza for a birthday party which had a specific list of guests. Azza is better known for its strict and unreasonable admittance policy than all other qualities that are expected in a club. I have been previously told by their door people that they practice "1 guy 2 girl" entrances. Thinking they wouldn't force this criteria for a birthday party (which had an invite list where girls outnumbered guys significantly), I went to the club alone after having dinner with one of my clients. When I arrived at the club, I was first astonished by the sight of other friends and family who were denied admission due to their failure of the criteria. Secondly, I couldn't believe the foul language that the main doorperson employed the address the concerns of those outside. Although I was on the list, I was subject to similar behavior. When I tried to explain myself, I felt as if I was explaining myself to a corrupt cop on the Bulgarian border to get in without a proper visa. At the point when they finally decided to let me in, the night was ruined already. I unfortunately didn't get the see how Azza is as a club, but I am guessing that it must be out of this world good as they can endorse such an unreasonable policy. Having seen some of the best clubs around the globe and in Nyc, I guess that the club's quality is as good as its frontmen and wish clubbers in nyc the best of luck in the endeavors at the gates of glorious Azza.
Pros: midtown location
Cons: can't get in
