“Hot music, great decor, cool crowd.”
“Music was fun drinks were great!”
“They have a great drink menu with lots of fun/interesting drinks to choose from!”
“New Yorks next great place, went there with some friends, we had a great time, the crowd, music, and drinks were the best we have had in a long time in new york.”
“mean really bad service.”
“Drinks too expensive for NYC!”
“The DJ was probably one of the best i've heard in a long time (Stacey Style-I think), it was a nice combo of dance and hip hop and not a lot of top 40.”
rat hole. Most likely the grimiest bar/ club I have ever been too. Left after few minutes of getting inside the tiny overcrowded and mainly underage room.
Retreat is the worst venue ever. I was supposed to have a birthday party here and I got there and the door was locked!! I had emails of me and Pete confirming my event and they did nothing to accommodate me. they pulled a no show on a Saturday night! my guests were disappointed and it was the worst and most embarrassing night of my life. I will never step foot in this place again or encourage ANYONE to go here and spend a dime. they are tacky, unprofessional and unethical! never again!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
Avoid!. Wow. I heard such good things about this place. Never again. Watered down overpriced drinks. I like crowds but the space it too crammed. Staff is rude. Music barely ok. Do yourself a favor and find another club.
Retreat is certainly a treat!.
Retreat is the best! I go here all the time and the bouncers are always nice to me. I always have AccessGotham set me up a list, which is a definite plus. My friends and I always do a big walk in of 15 to 20 people.
Retreat is a bit smaller than some of the other venues out there, but everything is top notch. The bartenders mix delicious drinks and are friendly and aren't so damn focused on tips. If there's one spot I always have fun at it's Retreat.
A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!.
RETREAT was one of the most horrible places that I have ever been too. The bouncers were the ONLY good thing going on at that location. The drinks sucked, the ambience sucked, the bathroom is located down the longest flight of stairs, obviously awaitng a fall to the bottom. The bartender did not know how to work the crowd and obviously did NOT know when to spot a drunk ass person until they are passed out on the bathroom floor throwing up! Thank God I found a parking spot on the street and got into this jungle for free because I would have been quite upset if I had spent another dime there. It is small, dark , and the bottles were OVER PRICED. The DJ was horrible, not allowing each song to play but 5 seconds before switching it to another one...my night was ruined completely.
DONT GO THERE! IT NOT WORTH A PENNY OF YOUR MONEY! THERE ARE BETTER VENUES YOU CAN ATTEND!
PLACE IS A SHITHOLE. PICTURE DOES NOT REFLECT THE REALITY.
This place is a filthy, low-class shithole. Bouncers are rude as hell. Don't be surprised if they resort to squeezing your private parts upon passing the security check. No female security on duty which makes it even worse if you come with your significant other. The ambience is purely awful. The place itself is a tiny lounge, not a night club, and the crowd is mainly GHETTO, dressed and acting like they are 'on the block'. This lounge definitely does not belong to the City, more like to the outskirts of "Da Bronx". DJ was horrible, spinning some crap that no respectable venue would ever allow. If not for the timely escape to Pacha's, my Haloween night would have been ruined completely.
DO NOT BUY INTO THE IMAGE ABOVE. Retreat looks like nothing even remotely similar to it. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
Sucks. This place is over crowded and dj jay star sucks. He played the same songs 5 times in one night. He also played songs from when I was in middle school, mid 90s
Nice music. The djs are great there on saturday nights..and its a nice mixed crowd..I don't know about any other night
Worst Experience of my Life - Please avoid.
Jam packed local trains in Mumbai (India)... that is the only place I can compare this place with. If you count the number of people per sq feet in America in a room on new yr eve... this place will top the rankings. You would not have get a place neither to move your ass nor even to breadth.
Horrible experience. Please do not even think of visiting this place.
Thanks,
Vinod
Avoid this place.
We went to the Retreat Lounge for a New Yr eve celebration and well.... in the 26 yrs of my life, they provided me with the worst beginning to a New Year.
Me and a group of friends arrived before 11 PM for the party and were made to wait outside for more than 10 minutes in the rain even with a valid ticket. We literally had to create a scene to let ourselves in but little did we realize that things are going to be even worse.
Let alone get a place to sit/drink or dance, there wasnt any to even stand. We somehow shoved and pushed around to get to the Coat hangers but the lady would not accept our Coats as she said its already full. There was no way we could find the staff among all this mayhem and we went back to the pushing and shoving with our Winter coats on, by the time we could think of what to do next one of my female friends fainted and we all came out of the place with a New Yr spoiled, a sick friend and $100 lighter in the pocket.
Obviously, the organizers oversold the event to make a quick buck.
I havent been to this place on a normal day so cannot comment on that but this is what happened on New Yrs eve. So you guys know this place has to be avoided on such occasions.
