Everything I thought it would be, and more... – From the moment I walked into kk hair salon I knew this was the place for me. The professionalism, respect and grace that is shown is un-rivaled. The service is great too. There has not been one time that I have left there un-happy. If you are looking for a place where you can feel like a princess for a day then just call kk hair salon or stop by! I can assure you that you will be very satisfied.
A HIDDEN GEM – I moved to the downtown / financial district a month ago.The neighborhood is great but still feeling growing pains from business to residential. I went in to this place for a haircut simply because it was convenient and there are not many decent looking salons in the area.Wow what a nice surprise ! Clean, stylish, cool staff. I got a great haircut and decided to treat myself to a massage while I was there... great decision. The masseuse, Maria, led me into a small but neat sanctuary with one table, clean white linens, and relaxing music. A pretty, petite girl, she was very professional and had hands surprisingly strong enough to undo a weeks worth of stress.
All in all....the haircut and the massage were worth every penny.
Not cheap, but reasonably priced for the level of service and the area.
And when I was walking out, every staff member I interacted with said good bye and called me by name.
I like that........and I''ll be back.
Bait and Switch nutty stylists – Ok, there are posted prices, but they don't apply to long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair. You get the picture. Even when you get a price somehow the cashier changes it. I had a stylist walk out for a smoke during a styling!! I went twice and never again. Not so clean either.
Great local massage! – Last week I was having a HORRIBLY stressful time at work and serious pains in my right arm. I'm that girl who gets a cold about once every four years that lasts two days and never has body aches, so I was freaked out... especially since I'm 25! All in all, think it was just rough at work (hey, crazy lay offs, economy is bad, hard to motivate your employees... ) and was walking around feeling on the verge of tears. My older wiser brother suggested I go and get a MASSAGE!
Being $$ conscious right now, I hopped onto Lifebooker, which I'd never actually used before... and bearing in mind that my dog was home all alone, I looked for something in my neighborhood - FiDi - so I could rush right home afterward.
I have to admit that I wasn't expecting much... but I was pleasantly surprised!!
It's mostly a hair salon, but they have one or two small rooms in the back. The massage room was teeny and efficient; massage table in the middle, hooks on the side to hang up your clothes. I had Maria, who was great; I never want to get too chatty with my masseuse, especially when all I want to do is forget my crappy week. She is small, pretty, energetic, and does an awesome job. Her deep tissue massage was like a forceful swedish, and there was none of the sometimes-weird feeling you get while receiving a massage from a stranger. No uncovering of private areas, always safely ensconced under the towel, and great service. I will FOR SURE go back if I can continue to book through Lifebooker... not because it isn't worth the money, just because I don't have a lot in excess right now.
The ONE area they could improve is in their music... it was very relaxing (could have been more soothing).
And I felt like she gave a long massage, too - not the usual 48 minutes for a 60 minute massage.
I'm happy to have this place across the street. I already have a trusted hair salon, but the vibe was really warm and friendly and clean... and a great massage.
Stylish, fast paced vibe – I was pleasantly surprised to find such a chic and professional salon on what was once a strictly financial business oriented block. The residential boom in the area is no doubt atrracting some trendy new shops with a wine shop next door and a new Gristedes across the street.
The service here was prompt and the staff attentive and talented. The girl who cut my hair was the owner and has apparently been cutting hair for 20 years. She did a great job.I always know a haircut is good when it falls in perfectly and stays that way for the next two weeks.I confess it didnt hurt that she was gorgeous too and spoke with a slight ,charming , accent I could not quite place ! There was a buzz about this salon...good music, and an equally good repoire between the staff and the clientel.Lots of women getting various hair treatments, and a good ratio of male customers as well.I woud highly recommend it to anyone ...I loved the experience...I will no doubt be back again.
Best Hair Experience ever,my sister knows Her salons – I was in ny for cancer surgery a few weeks a go and my sister took myself and my husband to her salon for a "treat". we walked in to "KK' salon on maiden lane on a Sat w/o an appt.(not the best Idea),but the hairstylist who was there said it was going to get busy in a while but he woulld work w us if we werent in a rush and wouldnt mind waiting a bit in between. The place was so bright, cheerful and clean, and the stylist was so pleasant and personable, it wasnt a problem. My sister and i were both getting color and cuts,my husband a little trim around the ears.the stylist was so was under a time line, but all went smoothly and no one had to wait ..too long ,even the customers w appts. The Results? FANTASTIC!!. My sister told be he was good and the shop was special. I may just have to come bk up to NY to visit KK salon again.I must say, It was a bright day in NY for another wise not so happy visit to the city.My sister paid for it all as a gift to me.It wasn't bargain bsmt salon prices, but you dont expect. that at a good salon in NY. All and All it was a great experiance. For the service and results it was a deal.
price list is useless, cut was bad – The salon is modern and clean looking and the products are high end, this is true. I just had my har cut and colored there last week and would not go back. My hair is a little less than shoulder length straight and ash blonde, pretty simple. The half head of highlights is advertised as $95.00 and up. I was charged $150.00 plus $25.00 for lowlights and an other $30.00 for a conditioning treatment. I don't mind so much the money but no one mentioned anything abut the higher costs until I was done and checked out. I am not sure what kind of hair you have to have to get the lower price, I always thought mine was pretty easy and I was never charged more than the minimum at other places.
The cut is pretty bad. I just wanted a trim, all hair the same length with a tiny bit of layering on the ends.... Well, I have a Princess Di cut from the 80s in the front and layers on one side only. Not sure how to handle this other than pushing the hair back with my sunglasses and wait for it to grow back... The cut was $60.00 instead of the $40.00 " and up" on the list. I did complain as It was being cut but the stylist told me he was not done yet, well I guess you can't add hair back on.....
When I complained about the cost to the manager I got $25.00 back. Overall the color is OK, the cut a disaster and I feel I was taken advantage off. Ask ahead of time how much it will cost you just to make sure you don't get a surprise when finished.
nice cut clean salon – friendly staff and a clean salon, looks new with modern fixtures and lighting.
they use high end products, like redken and artec. haircut was very nice and it was easy to get an appointement even in the evening.
not pushy on the sales of products.
