“The decor is nice and new, but not over the top.”
“The portions were extremely small, the pasta was over-cooked and "pastey", and the dessert was simply terrible.”
“The waiter was friendly, tried to salvage the evening, but as he entertained us, the loud, vulgar language of the man at the bar drowned him out.”
“But just the opposite happened - we were seated right away; our waitress Kim was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive; and our food was served quite promptly.”
“This gorgeous restaurant Nestled in New York's Flatiron District has a superb menu of entrees and stuzzichini or appetizers to offer an auth.”
“My date was great, this place was terrible.”
“We really did enjoy the food - the riceballs, chick peas, artichoke, ricotta w/honey, gnocchi, short ribs and the pasta with lemon and pistachios (my favorite) but are not planning to return anytime soon.”
“But I didn't find that to be the case at all - the waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing, even as the restaurant got busier.”
“was so happy there was a new place in this neighborhood that wasn't expensive and could become a neighborhood spot.”
“Though the service was a bit slow, the food was sensational and I look forward to coming back.”
Worst Service!!! Do not go!!!. This place was terrible!!! We waited 1 1/2 hours for our reservation and the hostess never approached us to apologize!! We had to repeatedly ask the hostess when we would be seated and then she mistakenly seated another table in our place!!! The entire staff was disorganized and confused!! The bathroom area was also disgusting! Seems as if there was no one cleaning the area the entire night and it showed.
Your Better off to Stay Home. I made the unfortunate experience to enter this Italian "restaurant". My first impression was a man drinking water from a bottle, who must of been the owner, cursing and speaking loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear him. I had reservations, and despite the fact they were half empty, I had to wait to be seated. The portions were extremely small, the pasta was over-cooked and "pastey", and the dessert was simply terrible. The waiter was friendly, tried to salvage the evening, but as he entertained us, the loud, vulgar language of the man at the bar drowned him out. Next time I will order in pizza from Domino's.
Bad Service.....Bad Language. Had the unfortunate experience of dining in this establishment. We had reservations....despite this we had to wait at the bar...where we were "entertained" by a loud vulgar gentleman who I was surprised to find out later that he was the owner. After being seated, we found the food to be very small portions, not very good, and the service non-exsistent. All the while we could still hear the vulgarity from the owner. A message to this gentleman....YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!!!!
Okay - nothing amazing.. Don?t go out of your way to eat here. While the food was very good, the restaurant had no character and the service was mediocre. Perhaps it was an oversight that the host/hostess seemed to check in everyone?s coats except for ours (call me crazy, but I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that we were the ONLY non-white people in the restaurant), it was a real turn off from the minute we walked in. The portions were also a tad small. I?m not interested in Olive Garden type gigantic plates, but it would have been nice to taste my friends dishes without feeling like they would be left with barely nothing to eat. Overall this place was enh. Unless you have the be in the area, I suggest going elsewhere.
Great time at Stuzzichini. I've been doing business in the Flatiron district and have been going here about twice a week for the past few weeks. I love the food and find it to be very authentic. Having traveled alot in Italy I find the pastas to be very well prepared and delicious. Had the Malfaldine and the Lemon Pistacchio tagliolini. They are both fantastic. We sit at the eating counter or bar and the service has been fine. The little plates are fun and tasty. Will miss Stuzzichini when I leave town.
Inexpensive with Bad Service. I visited this restaurant after reading a review of it. Upon arriving I instructed the host that I had a reservation, and then was told they would have a table for me shortly. Thirty-five minutes is not "shortly". During that time I waited, I was "entertained" a loud, vulgar, gentleman who I guess was part of management. I was then led to a table were I had decent food, lousy service, and I suppose this was compensated by reasonable prices. I will not return.
Much Improved. We first visited this restaurant in September, and were impressed with the food and not so impressed with the service. My girlfriend and I returned last week on Friday, and were pleasently surprised to see a complete turn around in service and general staff attitude. This is a great addition to the neighborhood.
Loud and Rude. I had reservations at this restaurant. I had confirmed them and upon arriving, found that they had canceled them for not confiming. They announced to me that they would get me a table in 20 minutes. So I proceeded to wait at the bar, despite the fact there were plenty of tables available. I was then entertained by a gentleman who proceeded to "scream" at the waitstaff in foul and disturbing language, when I complained I was told that he was the owner. That was enough, I left and had a great meal at another restaurant. One word of advise........keep the owner out of his own restaurant.
Will not be back!. I made reservations one day in advance for dinner with a friend. At no time did the reservation taker say I needed to confirm the reservations again. When I arrived the next evening, the hostess said that they almost canceled our reservation, which was puzzling to me, but that we were so lucky they still kept our table. We were seated at a tiny table in the bar section, rather than in the more spacious dining room. I didn't complain because my friend had arrived first, she was from out of town & I didn't want to make a fuss. When I got home after dinner (after being out all day), there were 2 messages from the restaurant, with one of them threatening to cancel the reservation unless I called back in 30 minutes. They basically gave us the terrible table because I didn't call to confirm (though I had made the reservation only 24 hours before & was never asked to call back!). Usually when I make reservations at other restaurants, I can be sure to get a nice table, but in this case, Bar Stuzzichini decided to go power-tripping instead. They're a new restaurant & not that established, so I'm surprised they choose to tick off diners that way. There are so many other great restaurants in the city that will treat you with respect. Why go to one that treats you poorly? Hard-working New Yorkers deserve better than that.
Don't bother. We tried it based on some OK reviews. However, they put us at a table in the back by the bathroom and kitchen and refused to offer a better option when requested. (We arrived at 5:45pm and the restaurant was still half empty when we left- it's big.)The service was sloppy and rushed. The waiter was casual, spilling wine and dropping the check before being asked. I could not take a bite of food, which was mediocre, without a busser leaning over me or someone coming to the table... At the end, when I tried to explain my disappointment to the maitre d', he called me rude. Is that how to treat a guest? Don't even waste your time.
