This popular Theater District destination for homey Italian fare has relocated to new digs.

Editor's Tips

When to Go:
Planning a private party? Trattoria Trecolori has a secluded dining area that seats up to 70 people. It also features a dance floor and full-service bar.
ambiance
100.0% positive
  1. The new location is amazing, with a great bar area (have now taken to meeting friends for drinks there) and a spacious second floor for private events.
  2. The Italian food here was great and Trattoria is in a great location!
  3. Great Italian food in a comfortable atmosphere.
  4. Great food at AMAZING prices (given the location) and incredibly friendly service.
  5. The exposed brick gives the restaurant an old world charm, and the location in the heart of the theatre district could not be more convenient.
  6. The atmosphere was very good.
  7. The long wait for their renovation was totally worth it - the new place is beautiful but still cozy (they kept the brick walls!)
dessert
100.0% positive
  1. But leave room for their fabulous dessert cart, especially the tiramisu and their italian-style cheesecake - both to-die-for!
  2. The waiters were well dressed and were very creative in their presentation of the desserts which were delicious.
drinks
100.0% positive
  1. The new location is amazing, with a great bar area (have now taken to meeting friends for drinks there) and a spacious second floor for private events.
  2. The waiter was more then attentive, and also helped our group pick a wine for the table, which was a perfect choice.
food quality
87.5% positive
  1. Homemade black linguini pasta sauteed with fresh shrimp, scallops, squid, little neck clams, and mussels in a light marinara sauce was a pleasure to eat.
  2. This place was clean, the food was great, and not 1 person in the group had an issue with their food.
  3. The Italian food here was great and Trattoria is in a great location!
  4. might suggest reservations for pre-theatre as it is now getting more busy due to reviews from Citysearch and others, but you can count on the service and food being very good no matter when you go.
  5. The very friendly owners greet you and seat you, the waitstaff is ultra-attentive (your water glass is never empty), and above all, their traditional, homestyle-italian-with-a-lttle-umph dishes are consistently outstanding!
  6. If you've been to all the tourist trap restaurants that everyone typically goes to, and you're ready for "real" food at a comparable price, friendly wait-staff and an attentive owner, then you'll be happy here.
  7. am a true NYC food nut, and love true Italian food.
  8. have been to Trecolori more than a few times and have experienced nothing but an excellent meal and prompt and courteous service each and every time.
  9. The food was great and the owner and staff were very friendly.
  10. Great Italian food in a comfortable atmosphere.
  11. Besides the snotty and even stupid attitude and demeanor of the wait staff, the food is NOT the best food in the theatre district.
  12. would highly recommend this place if you like good Italian food equal to the food served at any of the top rated spots in NYC.
  13. Great food at AMAZING prices (given the location) and incredibly friendly service.
  14. Truth is you are better walking out of the theatre district in the cold before eating at this place with its mediocre food and unbelievably rude wait staff.
  15. The waiters were well dressed and were very creative in their presentation of the desserts which were delicious.
  16. If you are looking for a great meal at affordable prices without the pretensions of other places in Midtown, this is the place.
menu variety
66.66999816894531% positive
  1. had a terrible time deceiding what to have and MJ suggested that I have half of both of my choices!
  2. recommend the daily specials, but that's because I've already tried all the menu items!
  3. We were there with a big group and took some time deciding on out menu choices, the waiter came around several times to take our order and we were not ready.

Always wonderful food

by James Pica

My wife and I have been dining here for several years.

We travel to the city from Danbury, CT several times each year to see Broadway shows, concerts and the opera.

Everytime we travel to the city we dine at Trattoria Trecolori.

Philip, Marco and Victor are excellent managers and the waiter staff is absolutely superb.

MJ, Tony, Joey, Alberto and the rest are professional and always treat us like family.

The food is consistently excellent.

excellent - lives up to the hipe!

Romantic - as well as great food. Wonderful, casual, perfect before a play, but make reservations. Everything is fabulous! Give it a try, you will not be sorry, and the wine selection is out of this world.

Tourist Trap

by geewiz

Went here after the theater with a friend upon reading all the great reviews. Bread was good. Salad wilted. Entre hardly edible. Sorry. This is a tourist trap. Go to Carmines if you have to eat in the theater district.

Great Food, Exceptional Service

by ssher77

My sister and I were in town for the weekend. This restaurant was recommended by a NYC resident after we had already made dinner reservations following a Broadway show. We stopped in for a light lunch before the show and were so impressed, we cancelled our previous dinner reservations and returned for dinner. The food was great and the owner and staff were very friendly. The waiters were well dressed and were very creative in their presentation of the desserts which were delicious.

  • Pros: Great food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff
  • Cons: None
