Editorial Review for Park Avenue Autumn – by Justin Hartung
In Short
Like the Upper East Side matrons who pack the place, this restaurant accessorizes for every season. In summer, fresh foliage and shells set a beachy scene, while winter finds the space looking like Jack Frosts' dining room, draped in white cloth and bedecked with snowball shaped lights. Hinged tables allow a round or square shape, depending on that season's layout. The menu morphs as well, following the seasons from light summer salads to truffle-adorned John Dory to cold-weather fuel like Chateaubriand.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkThe wine list reflects the time of year too, with custom blends made for the restaurant by different producers like Hedges Family Estate.
Private DiningReserve the kitchen table, which sits right in the middle of its namesake, for a full view of the action and a seven-course tasting menu. Don't worry, clear soundproofing, controllable temperature and a special chef's menu keep the experience cushy. Call four to six weeks in advance to secure the space for up to 10 guests ($150 per person).
Fun FactThe restaurant's clever construction by design firm AvroKO let the owners transform the space within a matter of days.

My husband and I had lunch here for Restaurant Week on a Friday afternoon. Our waiter was wonderful, giving us enough time to make our decisions, but paying attention to when we were ready to order. We had a nice bottle of wine from the interesting seasonal (and affordable) wine list. The food was quite good, especially the salmon tartare and the goat cheese mousse. We were quite pleased with our experience here.

I have eaten at all the Park Avenue seasons - Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer - and am happy that is summer is back. The menu has changed not only from spring but from last summer as well though keeping a few dishes that need not be changed (soft shell crab with strawberries in particular). I frequented the restaurant with a few friends, all of which dine out regularly in the city, and we all agreed that this was one of the best experiences we have had in recent memory. Simply put, the food was outstanding; light and festive and full of flavor. Babyback ribs smothered in a dr. pepper glaze hits the spot, as the meat falls right off the bone, along with the bouillabaisse, dover sole, and halibut are dishes that need not be missed. The food was on point as was our server who came prepared answering our questions about the menu. The two people who took care of our table were attentive and did not miss a beat seemingly on top of us at all times despite the restaurant being full. The only knocks on the restaurant that we encountered was having to wait for our drinks from the bar and the fact that we felt somewhat packed in at the table - it seemed like we were on top of everyone else around us but kind of fun when you also get to hear every other table's conversations. But once the food comes out, you suddenly forget about anything else. Supposedly, Autumn does not begin until after labor day and this is great news since i plan on coming back to summer again and again.
Pros: Food Food Food and Ambience
Cons: Tight spaces
