Communication issues.
Lived in Tokyo, love Japanese hair styles. Nice, unassuming shop. Went for color twice, got two different colors! Hairdresser maybe could not express in English why she made this decision. The first experience was great and included a newcomer discount. Second experience at full price was upsetting with the way darker hair color.

the best hair experience I ever had.
I always had a problem finding a stylist I can agree and trust since I moved to new york. I feel that many stylist in new york city only care about instant money and do not really care what would happen to the clients hair after a month or two. I had a really bad experience with one stylist colored my hair really blotchy in my roots lighter and the rest darker because simply my scalp area lights up faster obviously with body temperature! So My roots always was light and every touchup she created a ring on my hair. ... I have 3 rings on my beginnings og my hair....Well, I didn't really see until the third touch up! And on top of that my hair was pretty damaged.
In the wave 55 salon I went to yumiko. I knew her and she has styled my hair before and this time I decided to go for the digital perm, and the hair cut.
What people don't understand about my hair is, that I have a lot of hair, without any exaggeration. I had many hairstylists complained about how much hair I had. instead of making me relaxed, that were making me feel really bad. I know that I have so much hair, so why they keep repeating that "it is too much hair" over and over??? Yumiko doesn't tell you things like that. And also doesn't criticize anybody's work. (that's why i love her)
And She instead, thinned out my hair. many stylists don't do that, but instead they make layers but that doesn't really help when you have too much hair like me.
Anyways. Yumiko is a really gentle, patient, and kind stylist, who goes beyond what you ask for. She exams my hair very carefully, understanding which bunch of hair is damaged more than other, and if extra protections or treatment is needed, she will not hesitate to go ahead and do it. She took a lot of time making sure the process of my hair is on time and on track.
She doesn't give you excuses for things that you ask for doesn't work on you etc... she will make it happened.
I highly recommend Yumiko. I am coming back for color soon!

I liked it.
Maki cut and colored my hair incl. 5-process hair treatment, which took about 3 hrs in total.
What I liked about her most was that she listened to me well and was paying careful attention if I am not tired or the hair colorant was not irritating. I have not met such a nice hair stylist even in Japan. Of course, her cut technique is professional.
The other thing to mention was that the salon atmosphere was relaxing. It was important to me.
I rate this salon 3 stars because I visited there only once. If I have the same nice experience, I will rate it 4 stars.
About the prices, I guess it is average but for me, it seems higher.
Anyway, this salon is worth to try.

Overrated, in my view.
Was there twice. Switched the stylist but that didn't help. They just don't listen to you. Overrated, expensive, and not the place I will be coming back.

Great!.
The best Japanese straightening in the tri-state area by far! A bit pricey, but worth E V E R Y penny. I've never received so many compliments on my hair in my life! Don't settle, get the best. Ryo works magic!
