PhD in Pretension, Associates Degree in Skill. Stay away from cuts here. When I told my nonchalant hair stylist what I was wanting to do, he dissuaded me, promptly put my hair in a pony and unceremoniously chopped it to neck length. Even my colorist was aghast at his cold approach. At the better salons, stylists I know ask you questions that might help you achieve a new look. Here, not so much. After color, would you believe that the stylist actually told me he didn't have time for my cut because a client was coming in 10 minutes, basically showed me the door. My hair was wet, he didn't move to help me dry it, put it in a bun, perhaps fix the now off angle chop that he'd made. Niente! Nada! Amazing. Needless to say, not recommending unless you're going for color. Salons are places of beauty & pleasure, not places for celebrity attitude by the people who are supposed to be helping you achieve that.
Stay away!! – After reading the wonderful reviews for Simone Mangano, I decided to try the miracle of the best colorist in the world, first hand. Boy have I lived to regret it!! Instead of my usual beautiful blonde and caramel highlighted hair, I got red hair with brown highlights. When I told Simone the color was too dark for me, she claimed my hair was too damaged to dye blond...$300 down the drain! I AM NEVER EVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN... My advice: STAY AWAY!!
Mal at John Frieda Salon is the Best!! – I go to Malchiore (Mal) at John Frieda. He has been doing my hair for over 5 years. I would never go to anyone else. I followed him from Peter Coppola salon to John Frieda. He makes my hair looks extra glossy in the winter time and always recommends the best products for my hair type.
Paula Ivins is the go to girl for hair! – I have been seeing Paula for years and she is finally back in a salon for everyone to use - HOORAY! To let everyone know, she lives out of town and comes in every 6 weeks for a week at a time to Serge Normant. She is one of the most creative stylists who can work with any hair type (sent many friends with curly, straight, and in need of restoration of bad dos and dyes). I have had extremely short (basically crew cut) to down the back long, and it always looks amazing! Whenever I see Paula, I go in with an open mind because she knows exactly what she is doing, and I know I will leave looking and feeling great with a style that can be easily replicated at home. The only con, you need to book ASAP as her spots fill quickly.
You'll Leave Looking Beeeyoootiful! – This salon is a calming and classy little oasis. Definitely upscale, yet a soft, mellow vibe and everyone's really friendly. I highly recommend going with stylist Ryan Cotton. He's a true artist, you will totally fall in love!
Ryan Cotton is a dream! – I am so grateful that Ryan Cotton is in my life - he is a genius stylist who is as wildly talented as he is dedicated to his clients. He is the pillar of customer service (professional, generous and fun) and in turn has created a wake of loyal clients. I have been gong to Ryan for five years and sending friends and colleagues to him consistently - they have all become devotees!
Ryan cuts hair brilliantly. – If you are looking to upgrade your look, go see Ryan!
Creative, articulate, honest, and crazy gifted, Ryan is a fantastic stylist. Unlike other people I've gone to, he really listens and gives you the cut you request, while still offering expert advice. And I love his attention to detail!
Go see Ryan for a cut - he is THE best! – Ryan has been my stylist for 4 years - he has made me look fabulous for my wedding, social events, and everyday "do's". I have referred at least 4 friends to him and everyone loves the perfect hair they get and the great person they meet!
Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale – The salon boasts celebrity stars and stylists, with cuts that have won over Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Barkin.
