In Short – Though the name invites images of Southern fare, pizza is the actual focus at this Lower East Side spot. The brick-lined dining room with flaming orange walls seems to extend the earthstone oven where ovoid flatbreads are piled high with toppings and fired. The titular "pig pie" is topped with ham, sausage, prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato sauce. Non-pizza cravings are fulfilled by choices like calamari or a chicken burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato and Caesar mayo.

First before i go into a long reason why you should never go to this place please know i never write reviews but i was so moved by how awful this place is to take time out of my day people not to go.
ok so to start the food is good....this is the only positive thing i can say about this place.
First there is no AC (they claim it was on our entire table was about to die from heat stroke). The food then came super late and all of our meals came at different times so one persons meal would come out then 15 mins later maybe yours is next (repeat until all 6 of us have our food). Which is fine sometimes things happen so we were all cool not giving our server a hard time...its not her fault.
So we ate and as i mentioned the food is good. So we now want to leave and ask for the check....wait 15 mins and it does not come so we ask again...wait another 15 still no check. Finally one of our party gets up to go and get it again. So she asks our server to get our check and the server said the reason we didn't get our check is because no one wrote down our order OR has it written down anywhere. So we repeat the order to her so we could leave (at this point we have been here literally three hours for a party of six and we were just anxious to get out). The thing is no one was even being unreasonable - we just asked politely for the check and repeated our order so we could pay. When my friend said she would prefer to wait for the check by the front instead of going back to our table the owner started yelling at her more and calling us names. Then he actually said don't ever come here again and we don't need your business. He told us to write bad reviews so here i am. Unless you want to be treated like trash and wait over an hour for your food would come out i would avoid this place at all costs. Yes, its byob but there is a really cute byob Thai place right next door tcalled Eat-pisode which is amazing so go there instead.
awesome pizza, great place

This hole in the wall pizza place is fantastic. The pizzas are the product of the owner's creativity and they are all delicious. The fig pizza and the the tarte flambe deserve special recognition: the flavors are out of this world and cooked to perfection. The owner and his wife, the only main workers in the restaurant, take special care to make sure your dining experience is as enjoyable as possible. We came with a group of four people and by the end of the night, the owner, Marty, had pulled up a chair, and we were all drinking together and enjoying the night. This is a great restaurant to bring a couple bottles of wine, relax, and enjoy some awesome pizza. It was a great dining experience. We will definitely be back.

My roomates set up a small gathering for my birthday at Chickie's last night and it truly was a great time. Marty, chef and owner of "the pig" couldnt have been more helpful with everything and the food was terrific. Marty started the night off with calamari which I heard was amazing(i cant eat it as im allergic to shellfish) as were the prosciutto and mozzarella and ricotta rounds. He made pizzas for us that rival any pizza ive ever had. The steak pizza was very good as was the "meat" pie.
As good as the food was the service was what did it for me. Marty, his wife Elizabeth and their daughter couldnt have been nicer and they were friendly and on point. They welcomed the idea of 15 of us bringing in alot of wine and beers and allowed us to enjoy the night. Anything we need they brought..example, they allowed us to use their personal fridges to keep our extra drinks cold.
It was truly a great night and I am grateful my roommates found the place because I will be going to "the Pig" for years.
Pros: great service, prosciutto rounds, atmosphere is top notch
Cons: I honestly didnt find one.
