  1. The bartenders were attentive and even made a newly invented drink.
  2. guess that's why some people go, but I was just trying to find a nice place to eat with a friend (that wasn't a hot bar/deli).
  3. spotted him at the bar, having a nice glass of wine with the chef and enjoying his dinner.
  4. Because he let us taste, I ended up splurging on a wonderful glass of wine I otherwise would have ignored based on price alone.
  5. The bar fills up fast but if you can get a seat, you can eat there and the bartenders are very nice.
  6. You think they'd offer a drink on the house, but no, poor service instead.

  1. As of 12/7/08, the food is very good, the waitstaff (particularly Sean(?)
  2. The salad ingredients were ruined by overuse of dressing and the pizza was basically just a burnt piece of flat bread with mozzarella, arugala, and loads of oil.
  3. Fun scene, nice servers and truffled deviled eggs make this a great place.
  4. Amazing food that you would expect from a celeb-veteran?

  9. Must admit--food looked great.
  10. So i'm just sitting there with this dish that wasn't at all good and no appetite and I keep seeing this General Manager talking to the Star Chef kackling and making faces at each other and I felt as if they were talking about me.
  11. Oh, how I love the food of NYC and despise all the attitude that comes with it!
  12. The kitchen and staff have a long way to go in providing an enjoyable environment and cuisine to match.
  13. The food is more bad than good, and if you're going to have an open kitchen, the chef needs to at least pretend not to be miserable and crabby back there.

  17. The food was great from the mortadella pate' to the special corn fritters, moist and crunchy with a great dipping aioli.
  18. the two pasta dishes (pici pasta & one large ravioli) were tasty but small portions.
  19. like the raviolo with egg inside but I keep hoping there will be 2 on the plate.

  25. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive and the food was incredible.
  26. The rabbit rolled inside pancetta served with a bean-wild mushroom side was dry, almost cold and uninspired.
  27. The creative preparation of crispy gnocchi (like little rectangular pillows) with lamb bolognese (more dry than saucy) was very delicious.
  28. Peasant has the most excellent food and no matter how crowded it gets, they let you sit and enjoy it.
  29. Wonderful food, atmosphere and service

  36. Everything started off great but then I ordered my pasta and asked if I could have it without meat in the sauce if they had any marinara they could use.

  2. The kitchen and staff have a long way to go in providing an enjoyable environment and cuisine to match.
  3. The service was so AMAZINGLY BAD that we still laugh about it.
  4. When I asked if I could leave the sausage off of my "pizzetta" I was told by the waiter who had a terrible snobbish attitude that the chef probably wouldnt do it because "she is a famous chef.

  13. Fun scene, nice servers and truffled deviled eggs make this a great place.

  16. Good service?
  17. found the staff warm and would love to go back for an another whirl.
  18. The restaurant obviously doesn't believe in training their employees to allow their guests to actually enjoy their meals.
  19. Now this is a well cared place, starting from the happy faces from the open kitchen to the hostess and the funny french asian bartender, we loved it.
  20. The hostess was very good at keeping track of where we were, and thankfully it wasn't Mister Snippy, who pretty much dismissed us at the door when WE were on time.
  21. Pity that even the 2 small plates we ordered at the bar while waiting for a table hoping not to collapse on the pretty tile floor took over 30 minutes and few friendly reminders.

Disappointing

by timothy neil

Three of us ate there last Sunday Night and no one had a good meal. The octopus was as tough as rope, the mussels made my guest ill, and my fish was overdone.

Even the presentation was less than exciting.

Save your money, skip this average restaurant.

My alternate experience of Italy!

by Hyun

I went to Centro Vinoteca this past weekend simply because after reading "Eat, Pray, Love," I wanted Italian food, Italian wine and Italian life! Although the experience was more modern and classy than what was described in the book, the cozy and intimate atmosphere of the restaurant was very satisfactory :D

I tried Pici Pasta with sweet & spicy tomato-fennel sausage ragu and as many people recommended, it was AMAZING A big shame is tho... that I didn't try any wine :/

But I was told that the restaurant is having a great promotion for Aperitivo, 50% off ALL bottles of wine, and Prix Fixe brunch with UNLIMITED cocktail & Blood Mary! I will definitely go back and try this time!!!

Fun scene, nice servers and truffled deviled eggs make this a great place. I have gone for dinner and the apps are much more intersting and memorable than the entrees.
