Tips for The Half Pint

Terrible Service & Obnoxious Staff. The Half Pint has terrible service and an obnoxious staff. I brought my boyfriend for a birthday brunch and came back later that night with his friends, as it was his favorite bar. They use to be great, but lately have gone downhill (maybe management changed for the worse). The waitresses at brunch were grouchy, the barstaff at night were unfriendly and unhelpful, not to mention b*tchy, and the supposed owner told me to "get out of his face" when I asked if I could please speak to him. I will never go back there after the way we were treated with such disrespect.

I also wanted to share another review from someone else who had a bit more to say than me:

"I created an account just to share my disdain for this place. Crappy service is describing what I received in a positive light. I would rather be beaten with a rubber chicken, because that would at least produce a smile on my face.

In the many hours that I and my large group of friends spent there on one lovely weekend day/night for a friend's bday, we only received a "who sh*t in my soup?" disgusted look from the bar staff. When asking about one of the drink specials, the reply was "who cares you will make it taste like crap anyway" What does that even mean?

Now lets move on to the bathroom. Ive seen footage of death camps that appeared more sanitary than these basins full of doody. I mean, I know its a bar but even I had to hover when peeing ... and Im a dude. A hairy one at that, so Im all manly, but this made be go ewwww and icky and all these other adjectives that can be ad-libbed for nastiness.

So then at 2am, yes 2 am Eastern Standard Time, we got thrown out mid drink. Mind you our bill most likely paid the monthly utilities, and when walking out we got cursed by the evil Bar Staff lady who cursed out the bday boy and his gf. Yay, thanks for the cherry on tip ya witch.

Then the arguing ensued, but was finally put to rest after the witch bar lady had a scream off that we got tired of. As we contemplated where to go next an angry yet tallish Leprechaun man came and asked who caused all the trouble. He described himself as the owner and then threatened to beat the bday boy up (this was his favorite bar).

The night ended with us walking away mid scream to a delicious falafel spot down the block.

FYI, were not tourists, were all NYers either born or raised in the city or one of its boroughs, 20s/30s well to do adults and sh*t.

This was ridiculous. I seriously, seriously hate The Half Pint."

Great Place. The Half Pint has around 15 beers on draft and 175 in bottles. It's a nice open place and normally has the windows open when the weather is nice. The food is also pretty good.

The bartenders and waitresses are very friendly. If you're lucky Melinda will be working on a night that you go. She's the main bartender on Tuesday and Wednesday.

great bar. Have to say that I had a great time at the half pint!

The place has an inviting chilled atmosphere with a flavor of Irish setting.

Sat down at the bar for a few drinks. Bartenders were really nice. I didn't feel like I was in one of those bars where the staff are there because they have to be!

Food was suprisingly good...generally I don't expect much from a pub. The salads where tasty and my friends baby back ribs where tender and juicy.

Great place to hang out with all your friends enjoying great conversation and great tasting beer!

All in all great friendly staff, great environment and great location.

Make yourself at home, Kick your feet up and enjoy. Great food, Excellent Atmosphere, and The Staff is incredible. For years I had never thought much of New York City until recently I decided to do some exploring. Now they can't keep me away. I decide that was going to start heading into the City by train and walk the areas taking different routes each visit. Well along one of these excursions I happened to stumble into an area that just blew me away. The neighborhood is so alive especially in the summer but one could even find comfort and a friendly face on those cold winter months. I don't feel so much as though I am in a tourist trap like I do when I am in mid town. When I am in the village I find people that I have come to know that make me want to keep coming back week after week. Call it my getaway or my sanity.

OK I will get on with it! I one day had to use the bathroom and had just walked from Gran Central all the way down to W. 3rd St. @ Thompson I heard what seemed like a friendly crowd and smelled some good food so I ventured in. It was summer and the breeze was blowing through the open windows of this corner hidden jewel. I sat at the bar stool close to the kitchen and became immediate friends with two local very nice ladies who explained to me that if I pronounced the street W. Houston like the city in Texas I would be a dead giveaway as a tourist, and for me I generally fit in most anywhere I go, so this was a good tip for me. Well we bought each other some beers and even I guess I would call it "broke some bread together" If you call the best chicken nachos I have ever had bread! Instant friends and the bartender well that is a whole different story. Friendly, Uplifting, and this lady I believe could fit in most anywhere from a formal event to a motorcycle ride with some of the guys. "Down to earth and very nice" (Perfect for the Job)

Kudos to both this establishment, the awesome food, the atmosphere, the great selection of beer, and to the fantastic staff who help make this place feel like someplace one would always enjoy revisiting time after time..

Great atmosphere. I'd really recommend this place. The food is really good and the service is very fast. It's a nice change when in New York too to see friendly welcoming staff
