Finally! Salads in Williamsburg! – I heard about this place a few months ago and kept meaning to check it out. I finally did and I'm now a devoted fan. It's a very tiny shop.( Kinda like those shoebox places in the city that serve ONLY emapanadas or sliders. ) Well at the Salad Queen they manage to serve really fresh salads AND sandwiches, soups and baked potatoes. When you walk in , they have these menu cards and you check off your toppings and give it to the staff. A small salad is 7$ and you get 6 toppings. And I LOVE their soy sesame dressing! Sometimes this place can be very busy and hectic cause its so small so I started to call my order in ahead of time and then pick it up on my home from work. I have to hand it to them...it's a great idea and a welcome addition to the food options near the Graham avenue stop!
One bad experience – Let me start out by saying I love the salads. They are delicious! Also, every person I have talked to on the phone has been so so nice.
But today my appetite was ruined by a guy with a 'tude!
I felt so embarrased (and should feel that way) that I was paying my bill with singles and quarters. I said I know this is annoying, I'm sorry. Delivery boy said Yeah it is really annoying. I was waiting for him to say just kidding, but he angrily asked Are you going to give me the change already? He was so rude to me and probably an angry person in general. I do understand that it is annoying to pay that way, and I really wish I would've been able to pay my bill in another way. Even so, I don't think I deserved to be treated so rudely and especially during the holiday season. I'm sorry but if you don't like your life then don't take it out on your customers.
Other than that I think the place is great, but now I'm too uncomfortable to ever order from there again.
But I wouldn't say to anyone to not order from them because one bad seed shouldn't ruin it for everyone.
Sorry, but I had to get this off my chest so I could enjoy my last salad at The Salad Queen. It's delicious!
It's easy being green at this cheery, cheap takeout salad spot in Williamsburg. – In Short
This miniscule salad joint is appropriately painted green, and the walls are etched with a vaguely lettuce-like pattern. The shockingly fashionable and chipper staff takes order cards from customers, who've checked off a list of desired toppings like chickpeas, hard-boiled eggs, pine nuts and beets, as well as dressing of choice, some of which, like the soy sesame, are made onsite. Hoagies, baked potatoes and homemade sides like coleslaw help salad eat like a meal.
