The Scene
The only thing subdued about this corner cantina is the wood-darkened, dimly lit bar. In the festively decorated dining room, the noise level can be as cacophonous as a craps table full of lucky winners, especially if diners are seated at the long, tough-to-maneuver-around communal table. The friendly wait staff carries the crowd--girls-nights-out groups and dates from other parts of the city--through minor service glitches, whether they're eating inside or at the sidewalk tables.
The Food
Chef Sue Torres of Suenos partners with notable nightlife duo David Rabin and Will Regan (Lotus, the Double Seven) for this upscale taqueria. The best bangs for the buck are a tamarind-glazed skirt steak with a punchy pasilla sauce and a cooling cactus escabeche, and desserts like the crepas de cajetas--light caramel-stuffed crepes. A miniscule portion of pricey cod tacos and a one-dimensional scallop seviche, however, are closer to a roll of snake eyes.
Hits: Details like housemade chips, an excellent, smoky salsa and well-made cocktails, especially the margaritas, hit the jackpot.
Misses: Others, like the too-steep prices and awkward layout, will leave diners feeling grifted.

After nearly being stung by bees outside, we headed inside where a bus boy spilled a glass of water on our table and then walked away before cleaning most of it up and leaving the wet used napkin on the table. It took us 20 minutes to flag down our "server" to get another glass. By this point we were truly hoping the food would redeem our experience at Los Dados, but we werent so lucky. The salad lettuce had not been washed and parasites were everywhere on the leaves, the chicken was incredibly dry. Overall the restaurant was a complete disappointment and I'm not sure how it's managed to snag decent reviews so far.

Came here on a weekday. The drinks were terrific! We sat outside, nice night, the food took well over an hour. When the food came out, I couldn't even eat it! The tacos were not good at all! The only good side was the manager who was very apologetic and took care of the check! Would I go back? Perhaps simply because the drinks were so good and because the staff was nice.

The weekend brunch was disappointing from start to finish. Terrible service (we waited a solid 30 minutes for tacos and a quesadilla), uninspiring menu, mediocre food--and all of it wildly overpriced. I don't remember the last time I felt so thoroughly ripped off at a restaurant in New York.
