Massage. Nice and Clean, My massage therapist Zita is well versed in her field. She was able to quickly identify trigger points and muscle tightness. I would go to this place on a regular. I cant wait to go back to try the body scrub.

Totally Run, Don't Walk!. My wife took me to here for our anniversary. I didn’t go in with the highest expectations because, well, I just thought she mainly got this for her..Lol. Actually, I wasn’t even slightly happy. I kept my thoughts to myself but in my head I screamed “WHHHHYYYYYYY!!!!! I BOUGHT YOU A $400 NECKLACE. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY GIFT!” But like any well-mannered husband, I went. It took a little while to warm me up, but once the massaging commenced and the kinks were being worked out, I couldn’t help but think to myself “damn, I could do this on the regular.” And that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the past month. I go once a week and I haven’t felt this great in years. These guys are really awesome and they really know what they are doing. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out, take it from the guy with the beard who you’d never expect to be in a Spa. Thank you Aura! And thank you Caroline! (That’s my wife incase you couldn’t pick up on that)

AVOID PENNY. I made an appointment the other day and after taking a shower and walking up the stairs to the 2nd floor waiting area, I was coldly and rudely greeted by a cold and curt woman named "Penny". She barked, "What's your locker #?", and started walking ahead of me quickly.

I asked her if she was okay as we entered the room. She said she was fine and to lay on my stomach. She walked out for about 5 minutes while I took off my robe and laid down.

When she began the massage she was only using one hand and she was basically giving me a half-hearted effort and actually seemed aggressive with her touch.

I apologized to her that she was having a bad day and asked if she could use two hands to massage my shoulders and not just one.

Well, I got a bunch of muttered words in an angry tone so at that point I got up and left the room and demanded someone else.

Another massage therapist was brought in who was much more pleasant but I still felt like the relaxing experience I was seeking was ruined.

$120 for a nasty and rude massage therapist. NEVER AGAIN!!!! Everyone has bad days but don't take it out on your customers!!!!

GREAT PLACE. I went to Aura Spa for 90 minute Hot Stone Massage... and I think I've found my regular place now. I've been getting massages all over the city for the past 6 years and never really loved a place until now every thing from the level of service (the massage was AMAZING) To the extremely relaxing environment ( the music the massage rooms the dressing rooms) definitely make me want to come back...very soon! Ask for Yoko or Kay

Rip off. several weeks ago I bought 2 gift certificates online from their website for x-mas presents. They have not been sent yet and I have now called twice about it. No one there can figure out wether or not the gift certificates have been sent or if they will be. Total rip off.

Bad vibes on Aura. My experience at Aura wasn't everything I thought it would be. I've been to several spas/back rubs in NYC and this was probably the worst. The aura of Aura didn't improve my time there. I wasn't that impressed with the space-age ambience.

While it seems like a very classy and well run establishment, I do not think the $130 for 1 Hour massage is worth it. My masseuse kept leaving the room to yell at someone, which didn't really relax me. She actually banged on the wall at one point to quiet noisy neighbors (that I didn't even hear to begin with). After banging on the wall, she then said something insulting about Spanish people, which offended me.

The massage itself wasn't very relaxing either. Aside from the woman not being all that attractive, she was trying to talk to me the whole time, which is not something I need. On top of this, she massaged my feet and legs more than my back and shoulders, which I couldn't understand the whole time after I had pinpointed specifically to massage my left shoulder.

There are better places to go... I actually felt like going to another Spa immediately after. For this, the masseuse at Aura got a $20 tip. NOTHING ELSE!!!

The decor reminds me of a spaceship. Good experience overall.. PROS: Very clean, courteous, and pretty. I especially love the gorgeous quartz mosaics inside the Dry Heat sauna. Very unique. Prompt and nice service. No problems on my first visit. I think the BEST thing about this spa is that it is open until 2 am. So convenient! I went around 7 pm and stayed until 10 pm.

The Body Scrub treatment was definitely a bit of a shock. I felt a bit weird being totally undressed while a woman scrubbed every inch of my skin and periodically dumped buckets of hot water on me. Not particularly relaxing, that's for sure. However, the scrub felt pretty damn good and the end result was really soft skin. I *might* do it again.

CONS: The decor, while beautiful, was a bit too clinical and austere for my taste. The lighting was blue tinted. I felt like I was on a spaceship. Normally that would be super cool, but maybe not the best atmosphere to feel pampered and relax in.

Love the Grotto's. What a gem in the heart of midtown. I had a wonderful massage and enjoyed the grotto's very much. I will be going back with my boyfriend for a couples massage.
