Cool Midtown Bar/Lounge. This is a great location for midtowners. A large chandelier welcomes you into this establishment. Walk down the stairs and to your left is the main room with a bar, fpd tvs, lounge chairs and tables... and to your right is a side dining area. For corporate folks who want a happy hour place that is never too crowded, this is your spot. great sliders and hummus. the salad portions are huge. desserts and service is so-so (typical gals in all black outfits/short skirts). the music can get rather loud... so i suggest sitting in the side dining area, where the noise level isn't as loud. crowd is typically corporate suits and etc... hint: large groups can make reservations.
Best music, drinks and service in Midtown!. A buddy told me about the Volstead and I decided to take a group of friends this past Saturday night. The place was PACKED!!! Everyone was dancing as the DJ turned out the hottest mix of 60s 70s 80s 90s and even current hits. No kidding! I didn't think this was possible, let alone in midtown, but the vibe was wonderful. There were plenty of nooks for quiet conversation and despite the crowd everyone was friendly and accomodating. This place is a gem... the bartenders know their stuff, the djs spin the hottest mixes I have ever heard and the waitstaff are not only delightful to look at, but well versed and pleasant.
This fresh spin on the speakeasy aims to keep young professionals in midtown long after the workday has ended..
Serious cocktails, slider trays and flatscreens are a winning combo for post-office fraternizing, and by adding a whiff of speakeasy intrigue to their latest midtown venture, the owners of PS 450 and Vig 27 hope to seal the deal. Secretive the Volstead is not--you can't miss the Versailles-worthy chandelier at the entrance--but it is underground; two flights of stairs lead to a double-wide bar and an adjacent lounge area that has plenty of group-friendly nooks with waitresses and silver ice buckets on hand.
Hits: Chef Dominic Giuliano's menu of comfort foods like mac 'n' cheese pops and lobster roll sliders is delicious, and the kitchen stays open until 2am Thursday through Sunday.
Misses: Domestic bottles of beer run a whopping $7, with no happy hour.
The new standard in hospitality. Last Thursday me and my wife decided to take a stroll. We were plesantly greeted and charmed by a well dressed man named King. He convinced us to take a look at what use to be the bar Lite. Boy where we glad we did . The service and hospitality only continued. This is so not like those silly clubs on westside where people get treated like garbage. This is my new place of leisure great food, great staff and a cool doorman who is worth the trip alone to hang out with.
The best. I cannot believe how terrific this place is. I love it !!!! King the doorman is super!!!!!! A bunch of us all went there after work and was amazed at how cool everyone was. The cantaloupe martini is a must. You have to go there if you're midtown.
Great place, great staff!!. A group from work had a get-together here after work and loved it! The staff was so incredibly accommodating and friendly, I almost forgot we were in NYC ;-) The layout with a couple of wider areas was useful for larger groups and yet had a very intimate feel with more quaint areas available as well. The music was varied so it pleased everyone and the food was great. Highly recommended!!
