Excellent service and prime steaks done right are the hallmarks of this import from Queens.

Editor's Tips

What to Drink:
The wine list is surprisingly affordable: Renwood's Barbera and Viogner ($40) are two great bottles for the price.
Look Good:
A porterhouse for two is the restaurant's signature offering and generously portioned for couples on a date.

  1. Whether for lunch or dinner, you can definitely meet your budget, especially if you stick to prix fix ($40 can nab you beautiful filet mignon as part of your four course meal) or go on Tuesdays for half priced wine (off a list with over 100 wines at price
  2. The restaurant has a full bar and a very good wine list to choose from.
  3. Thanks willie not only for adding a great new mainstay to midtown but also making he rest of your competion realize they must raise the bar or close.

  1. We have eaten a upper scale steakhouses throughout the USA and Uncle Jacks rates up there with the usual ones, ie Ruth's Chris, Morton's, The Palm etc..., the filets were good, mashed sweet potatoes fantastic and the prime rib chop ok.
  2. The cold seafood platter was top quality although abit pricey.
  3. The prices were expensive; as is the case with any prime NY steakhouse, but worth it if you're a steak lover.
  4. At 48 ounces, the porterhouse did more than just satisfy my cravings for a juicy steak.
  5. Then the food that was served was cold.
  6. If you love steak, and I do, you should love this place.
  7. This place is a must-eat-at for any person in NY who appreciates a good slice of beef.
  8. Overall, an excellent meal.
  9. The steak was very thick and had a wonderful flavor.
  10. First the porterhouse steak have no flavor and served on a cold plate, baked potato came cut in half size portion and hard,it's so bad that TAD's steak taste better
  11. They have a fantastic mescaline salad with goat cheese and pine nuts, which I definitely recommend.
  12. friend (who I trust with steaks), recommended this place to me on my vacation and it did not disappoint.
  13. great food, but pricey, the decor is great and the serivce is amazing, great to impress a date.
  14. Anyways, all in all, this place is a must-eat-at for any person in NY who appreciates a good slice of beef.
  15. This wasn't the marbleized, flavorful beef I expected; this was plain, old fatty beef.
  16. Steaks, seafood and real kobe beef ( which i suggest you at least order for the table) were amazing.
  17. The food is absolutely delicious!
  18. Whether for lunch or dinner, you can definitely meet your budget, especially if you stick to prix fix ($40 can nab you beautiful filet mignon as part of your four course meal) or go on Tuesdays for half priced wine (off a list with over 100 wines at price
  19. For a $260 meal I expect more than good fries.
  20. love the food
  21. All in all Uncle Jack's is just as delicious and enjoyable a dining experience as some of the other big name steak joints in NYC, difference is Uncle Jack's caters to a lower budget.
  22. The decor was nice, the service was spot-on, the beginning drinks were free and the food was delicious.
  23. amazing food and service, but pricey.
  24. The sauteed mushrooms were excellent as well.

The best there is!

by DOUGG51

My wife and I had dinner here on Feb. 14, 2012. We usually go to other high end restaurants in the area (Rothmann's, Ruth Chris', Frankie & Johnny's) but decided to try someplace new. We are both glad we did. Everything was great! Our waiter was Christopher. He was always there when you wanted him but did not hang all over you all the time. Nor did he try to sell you something. He just made a suggestion, if the opportunity presented itself. My filet was cooked to perfection, my wife's lobster was also. The crab cakes were to die for! The creamed spinach was made from FRESH spinach--not frozen, as it was in other nearby restaurants. How they make the delicious mashed sweet potato, I would like to know! They were out of this world! When we got the 2 sides, half of each was given to each of us and there was enough left over of each to feed a 3rd person! The drinks were hearty and lower in price than nearby competitors. All in all, a great dining experience.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: I can't think of any. Can you?

Best steak in NYC

by MikeDeam

One of the best meals I've had in New York and it's just round the corner. The steak was sensational the sides of onions, mushrooms and broccoli were terrific the baked potato was perfect and the strudle was to die for. While great cooking helps to make a great meal it was Tracy who made us feel special. He did not just ask if we had a great meal he offered advice, he talked and really cared about his customers. Great job we will be back.

Fabulous Steakhouse

by Athena Chang , Citysearch Contributor

Uncle Jack's is awesome. They have great Wednesday night special for the ladies, that is free cheese and wine! What more can you ask for? Well, you can ask for some beef.

Their waygu steak is awesome but it is $100 per serving so it is kind of expensive. If you don't want to break your bank, their regular cuts are fabulous too.

I came today for their lunch special, which is quite reasonable and comes with good portion. The sesame salmon was well seasoned and tender. My boyfriend got the 20 oz rib steak and it was tender, juicy and delicious.

Service was attentive and I consider it a great business lunch spot and occasionally when you want to pig out on red meat!

Great Deals and Steak

by caryn donohue

My co-blogger and I took a friend here last night as a thank-you dinner for doing design work for our blog - 89th and Broke. We decided on Uncle Jack's for a number of reasons, but mainly we wanted to try out one of their deals. Thursday night is Ladies and Gents Night, meaning you get a free martini (for the ladies) or scotch, port, whiskey and bourbon (for the gents) at the bar from 5-7. These free drinks are typically coupled with apps, so we were sold.

Luckily we easily grabbed a spot at the bar and had a few martinis (cosmos or appletinis) each. We inquired about the apps and for some reason they weren't serving them last night, but then our lovely bartender made a call and lo and behold, crab cakes were out in the next 15 minutes. They were delicious!

(Note: Wednesday is Wine Tasting Wednesdays - Free wine and fruit/cheese platters from 5-7)

We split the porterhouse for two (although we were three, and it was plenty), had the green bean, asparagus and tomato salad, per our waiter's recommendation, and finished with the tiramisu and Mississippi mud pie. It was all outstanding. The decor was nice, the service was spot-on, the beginning drinks were free and the food was delicious. Can't ask for more!

  • Pros: Delicious food, great specials, very nice bartender (Paul)
  • Cons: It's pricey, but it is a steakhouse
