“nice decor and charming light but very flaky crowd, nervous scene and the drinks and desserts kinda bad.”
“It is precisely the kind of place I have been looking for in NYC- vinyl albums playing in the background, a uniquely beautiful interior flare, a creative (yet not intimidating) menu, eclectic wine selections and great service.”
“All in all, I found the drinks to be tasty, but the food I ordered was nothing amazing, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.”

“new favorite restaurant”
“Please disregard the obvious staff/restaurant good review plants, there's no possible way this restaurant could ever be worth a single full star!”

“The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect, but what impressed us both the most was the way we were treated from the minute we walked in the door.”
It's been through more chefs than Paris Hilton has boyfriends, but this swanky, sexy West Village restaurant has more than enough style to make anyone forget that. The upstairs is gorgeous and the back garden even more so; but even at the bar the "talent" is of stratospheric quality, and both the drinks and the dishes more than worthy.
Hip and fun, but not too over the top..... I love this place for pre-dinner drinks with friends. Everyone I take there loves it too. I finally had dinner there and honestly it wasn't bad at all, but a little disappointing when compared to its "peers". Some of the reviews are correct in that for the place, its portion size was a little surprising to the almost "Ducasse-like" price, but the taste was delicious and the complimentary amuse was a nice touch. Yes, the menu is little more sophisticated than the neighborhood standards. The staff was nice and unaffected, but hip and the bartender is a sweetie. For some zoning reason the upstairs "coolest little bar downtown" was closed temporarily, but the downstairs bar is nice. Try not to sit in front of the air duct (across from the little white standing bar table) b/c the AC blew in my friend's face and he was not that happy about it. With myy decade of experience with Manhattan restaurants -it's worth going especially if like going to Freeman's, Gemma, Norwood, Little Owl...
Bohemian Indeed!. Bobo is a sanctuary for artists and artists at heart looking for unbelievable food in an extraordinary setting. It is precisely the kind of place I have been looking for in NYC- vinyl albums playing in the background, a uniquely beautiful interior flare, a creative (yet not intimidating) menu, eclectic wine selections and great service. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to make our experience there a flawless one. I highly recommend this restaurant to New Yorkers that enjoy the art of dining - Bobo is truly a rare find.
new favorite restaurant. I went to Bobo with my boyfriend last night after hearing rave reviews from my friends and reading mixed reviews online. We had such a great experience. I had been warned that there is no sign outside so we walked down the little staircase into the restaurant. We were struck by how cozy the space felt. The hostesses were sweet and led us to our table upstairs. It was raining so we couldn't sit outside which was a bummer because the terrace looked like it must be beautiful on a drier night. Our waitress was really charming and made some very good suggestions in terms of wine. Each dish we ordered was unique and delicious and in just right portions. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect, but what impressed us both the most was the way we were treated from the minute we walked in the door. We are certain to become Bobo regulars.
Bobo a NO NO!. Horrible service and bad food for an exorbitant price. Rude and inattentive wait staff. Food arrived inedible-- it wasn't cooked properly and the waitress refused to correct it. Go only if you want to be insulted and have a bad time.
Favorite new restaurant. I've been wanting to try Bobo for a while, having heard that a longtime Ducasse chef has settled close to home. I found out that they've got a new chef which worried me. Two chefs so quickly? But no need to worry, the food is great. I had the homemade charcouterie, which tasted as good as it does in France. The real winner was the pork entree, melting, yet crispy belly, tender loin, with sausage and a few different kinds of beens. Desserts great too! I tried Bobo for a first date, which didn't pan out, but I still dream about that pork.
Most comfortable space in town. I happened upon this place on a Thursday night and it knocked my socks off. It has to be one of the most comfortable spaces on the city. Each room has its own unique and uber charming atmosphere. I had originally gone in for a drink( Which are served up by a very knowledgeable bar staff} , but ended up eating. The mushroom risotto was one of the best I've had in the city. It is a seasonal restaurant and there were some wonderful spring vegetables mixed in with a perfectly textured dish. I also had the steak. It was cooked to the most amazing medium rare that I have seen. The pink went all the way to the edge. I asked my server how they managed it. He told me that the meat is seared and then actually poached in olive oil, which left it juicy and tender all the way through. The oxtail that accompanied it might be my new favorite thing. Will definetely go back if I can get a reservation.
Worst of Everything. We wanted to give Bobo a try due to the overwhelming positive reviews on here, and chalked up the bad reviews to be possibly doctored by their competition. We were wrong. We had to wait 15 minutes to even get a menu - but only after flagging down a waitress who was on her way setting up the table next to us. She apologized for completely ignoring us, even though we were seated at her side of the room. Our appetizer was not so bad (mushroom risoto), but our entrees were disgusting! The texture of my dry aged beef "fiorintina" looked like something coming out of a can of Alpo - and I would rather try some Alpo before putting any of that disgusting meat in my mouth again! I took a bite of the side of mushrooms, and all I could taste were chunks of sea salt. All in all, gross food, bad service, and definitely not worth the pretentious high prices - an expensive price tag does not guarantee good food. Go somewhere else.
Avoid at all Costs!. This is most likely the absolute worst restaurant I've been to in the West Village, and promptly gave the worst tip I've ever given in my life. The decor was nice, but that's where it ended. Left the restaurant in search of anything to get the horrible taste of burnt halibut and salty mushrooms from my mouth! The service was horrendous - I was being flanked by someone named "Richard" where the entire staff forgot that there were any other customers in the entire restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. Please disregard the obvious staff/restaurant good review plants, there's no possible way this restaurant could ever be worth a single full star! Stay away. Bobo - don't disrespect the West Village with your aweful food and service!
Loved the experience!.
What a great time I had here last week. I came to bobo when it first opened and put my experience down to opening blues. I gave it another chance last week for a friend's birthday. There was 8 of us seated very comfortably on the Chef's table and we all had an excellent time. The food was amazing - gone is the dodgy French food replaced by the wonderful menu cooked by ex-Hearth Chef Jared Stafford-Hill (so the very informative waiter informed me!) Also the service and ambience were first class. I could not fault it at all. One more thing - they are about to open the outside terrace for the spring/summer season - this has got to be one of the prettiest outside spaces that I have ever seen.
Definitely check out bobo again!
Thank GOD I didn't read the bad reviews before I went -. The person who had the lamb doesn't know the difference between lamb shoulder and a lamb chop - This is my new favorite restaurant! I love it!
