Chelsea's hidden gem. I'm sad to see such a blasting review of Tres. He's been cutting my hair for about 2 years, and I've gotten a fabulous haircut every time. No exceptions.

He understands my quirky hair, and I always float out of his shop feeling at least 10 pounds lighter (inside)....

What distinguishes his "salon" from all the others I've been to:

Great selection of world and old rock/R&B music played. I always ask him: Who's THAT?

Inspiring lineup of art, photo and philosophy books. What an improvement over gossip rags. I mean, really. Sometimes it feels like the whole world is one big TMZ. Tres's shop is an oasis.

Tres is a man of substance and generosity. His work springs from a place of experience, wisdom, and an overall appreciation of life's wonder and beauty. His artistry reflects this.

I trust him with my hair. I'm glad I trusted (most of) the reviews here and brought myself to him.

Over Rated, Over Priced and Under Skilled. I entered Tres Jordan Hair Salon with brassy color, split ends and, for the $180 price tag, a simple expectation that these two things would be fixed by the time I walked out the door. After reading all the glowing reviews I was really excited to get my hair done here. When Tres told me he wanted to put some red in my hair I thought “Great! Red tones compliment my complexion.” Perhaps it’s because he never pulled the color all the way through, he only did my roots, but the red toned never made it into my hair, rather I now have ginger toned brassy color. On a professional note, while he was washing my the dye out of my hair, he answered his phone and walked away leaving me with my hair in the sink and the water running.

As for the haircut, he said my hair type did not lend itself to the haircut I wanted, which is understandable, but the haircut he gave me was uninspired and basically just a trim of my previous grown out cut. The thing that really baffles me though is why he refused to give me bangs; he claimed they would stick straight out uncontrollably. I’ve lived with my hair for over 25 years and never have I had bangs that stuck straight out.

Finally, to top it all off, I’m still finding split ends and he even said my hair was not that damaged, so there is no excuse. Tres is a nice enough guy but if you have long hair and are looking for a good hair salon, keep looking.

WOW........AMAZING AND GORGEOUS HAIR!! TRULY INCREDIBLE AT SUPER AFFORDABLE PRICES!!!. First of all, Thank God and Google I have found Tres. I read these reviews, and I made an appointment to see with my own eyes what all the fuss is about. Well???I am still in shock!!! I have never had in my entire life these incredible highlights and haircut. He transformed my hair from damaged and dry to healthy and amazing. I did not think it would be possible.

I get complements from all my friends and from strangers on the street!! Tres is a true artist, besides a well-educated, cool and multitalented person. And to top it all off, his price is super affordable. It is unbelievable to find in NYC someone like Tres who delivers such a high quality work at extremely reasonable prices. Just call him and you will see what we all mean. Enjoy and feel gorgeous!!

My hair has never looked so beautiful and so healthy as it has in the past 3 months that it has been undergoing Tres therapy. Seriously, Tres is to hair as Promises is to Hollywood alcoholics. He can fix any disaster that your previous stylist has proudly created. My hair is beautiful. Tres' highlights are stunning. I can't say enough. Believe the hype!

The Perfect Remedy for the "Chic Mullet". For over a year, I traveled 5 hours every 8 weeks to have my hair cut in my home town. I feared that venturing out into the scary salon world of NYC was going to leave me with $200 "chic mullet" . I'm just not a "chic mullet" kinda girl, and I don't really have $200 to throw away.

I wanted a place with character, that would give me a respectable, stylish, and SLIGHTLY edgy 'do'. This is EXACTLY what I got from Tres.

Tres sat me down, told me that I would look fabulous as a red head with a cropped cut,( I asked for a trim of my brown, lack luster, long hair). That was it for me - essentially, he had me at hello. I'd always wanted to be a red head, and deep down inside I really wanted to chop off my hair.

I just went back for my second visit - and I will go back and back and back and back.

Haircut Needed BADLY!. We live in NYC. Our choices for an exceptional, affordable haircut are far and few between. Prices for a senior stylist are obscene and student nights are a gamble. Astor place is for college kids, and mid priced places just don't GAF about your hair.

I'm 33 but I'm bordering on a crotchety 80 year old.I work really hard for the money, so hard for it honey and I'm not about to waste a dime. I despise hair risks and I'll shank you if I feel I'm being taken for a ride.

Here's the deal - It was a few days before my European trip. My hair needed a cut. Badly. It was dead, dull, and downright gross. My regular gal was on vacay. I checked out Citysearch

Long story short - Tres talked to me about what I wanted for my hair before he touched it - length preferences, style preference, etc. I didn't tell him how I longed to have shiny hair, but somehow he knew. Out of nowhere he suggested a semi permanent rinse that he didn't push on me at all. I was swept up in his promises of fabulous hair so I went with the rinse (really affordable price btw)

After some cutting, coloring, styling and interesting convo (this man is someone you just WANT to know about) I left that joint with glamour hair with a shine found only in a magazine.

Tres is awesome and I'll definitely go back. I'll give an update on how it's growing out.

For the hair you leave with, the price is more than fair. I know we're all looking to save a buck, but really it's worth every penny. I really hope they don't raise the prices after all of these reviews.

THE Best. Tres is AMAZING!!! I have been going to him for a long time now and he consistently keeps my hair looking great. I currently live in DC and I travel all the way up to New York just to get Tres to do my hair! People make fun of me - but he IS that good. I'm constantly changing the color of my hair and Tres always does an incredible job no matter what I ask for. His cute Chelsea location is great and you feel like you are getting personalized service. Tres has an awesome attitude and I always leave his salon looking and feeling great.

"No Problem". As a professional working in the corporate world, I need to present with style and flair to offset the reality of being a baby boomer eligible for senior citizen discounts (how did that happen?). My hair presents a challenge, for the best of stylists. Euphemistically described as "fine," it needs all the help it can get. Enter Tres Jordan. Up to the challenge, makes it look like a piece of cake. For him, it is. And for that, I am grateful and eager to spread the word.

Tres Jordan gets the job done!. Tres is great. This is so much better than the $20 cut I used to get... I can go much longer in between haircuts now because it still looks great after several weeks. He makes me look 'presentable' but still pretty hip. I work in software consulting but I also play guitar in a band, so I want to look cool but I also have to be able to convince corporate clients to pay big bucks for my software services... Tres Jordan gets the job done!

Tres Follower. I found Tres when I first moved to NY and I have been seeing him for four years now. I can't imagine going anywhere else to get my hair done. I don't even tell him to do anything and I come out looking great every time. He has great vision and can style your hair to match your lifestyle. I am extremely busy so I don't like a lot of fuss and it works out every time. At the beginning of every cut, he tells me what he thinks he should do and I usually just agree and let him work his magic. He is a great colorist - very detail oriented / perfectionist. Every time I get a cut, I get tons of compliments.
