Great Studio - One Bad Apple. As a devoted student of Bikram yoga, I enjoyed attending this studio and the sister studio in Brooklyn Heights for over 5 years. The vast majority of the instructors are enthusiastic and supportive, and I learned something new from them during each class - Cristin, Yuki, Aiko, are just a few of the fabulous and devoted intstructors on staff.

Sadly, I have stopped attending both the downtown studio and the brooklyn heights studio because of the attitude of one instructor who consistently belittles her students during class.

After finally convincing a good friend recovering from knee surgery to attend a class with me, I was mortified to have Courtney tell her during her second class that if she wasn't going to do the poses (she was hesitant on a few that really stretch the knees) then she wasn't welcome to remain in class.

I find the disgust that Courtney displays for new students, or students who are not progressing to her satisfaction, inexcusable. Instead of offering corrections by explaining how to get more deeply into a pose or improve your form, she simply ridicules and condemns.

I thought long and hard about putting this review online. I wish Courtney would take some time to think about her attitude in class and the negative effect she has on others.

Carol. Margot got it right. I agree with Carol and Margot; no, it hasn't changed much since last fall. There are better Bikram options out there.

Not what I am used to.... I agree with Margot, and it looks like she wrote this review very long ago, it looks like they didn't change.

This place is tiny, arrogant and not good place to practice for simple people.

I just didn't like it at all, and I have tried many Yoga places in the city, this is not a good Yoga place.

Great Experience. I've been to alot of Bikram studio's and this was a really great experience.I felt very welcomed in this fairly new studio as soon as I walked in.The was class not to crowded and the space very open and clean. The instructor was a great teacher for my first class( tough but very encouraging and positve)I think her name was Aiko. The room was hot but not unbearable. They have a $21 week unlimited for new students which I took advantage of. My second class was with this guy named Troy who was very enthusiastic and fun made the class seem to go by very quickly. This is what the Downtown/ Financial district needed.

These people are CRAZY; studio is drab and stale and an overall unpleasant atmosphere. This studio has some of the angriest "yogis" (if you can call them that) I've ever seen. From the moment you walk in, the attitude of the people who work there makes the whole experience negative. I've only returned because of its proximity to my home, but can honestly say this is one of the most unpleasant studios I've ever been to. I've been taking bikram yoga classes for years in Manhattan and this particular studio looks like an abandoned warehouse - no charm, no appealing qualities. In addition, the teachers are so strict and rough around the edges - I've seen them correct students' postures with such brash motions I can't believe anyone would put up with it. They lock the door once the class starts so you can't be even a minute late and they lock you in for the whole 90 minutes and don't let you leave early. LITERALLY, they won't let you leave the studio since they've locked the door to the actual ENTRANCE. I once told them I would have to leave class 10 minutes earlier bc I had a lot of work and they told me I was "not allowed" to practice there that day. Terribly rude, absolutely ridiculous and not even worth the money
