There's no shortage of Mediterranean restaurants in New York, but neighborhood restaurant owner Turgut Balikci's newest endeavor takes traditional dining to another level. Architect Richard Bloch--who also designed Masa--resists the urge to go overboard on traditional decorations, opting instead for Mediterranean touches like sea-blue tiling and a wood-burning oven. Put-together uptowners snack on mezze like baba ghanoush and hummus, while entree selections include fish tagine and Adana kebabs. Baklava provides a sweet close to any meal.
