I came here for a deep tissue massage...I left very disappointed. First, I received a pseudo-Swedish massage from a male therapist. There was a lot of poking in lieu of massaging/rubbing despite my repeatedly asking for deeper massage strokes. I am ticklish, so I asked for my back and legs not to be "poked" so much, I was told to "just ignore it." I was more tense at the end of the massage than when I walked into the door. Definitely would not recommend the massage services. Cannot comment on the salon services, other than the area was clean and modern.

Dedicated Hair and Nail Specialists: Yvone and Norma. First let me say that, Escape salon is located in close proximity to several stores and eatery's so you can order or grab something quick before your appointment ( in case you are hungry). There is free parking available across the street from the salon, up the hill, between the "eyeglass store and restaurant which are both located on the corner or behind the salon in the neighborhood (you just need to arrive a little earlier to park and walk to the salon).

I have been to several hair and nail salons (about 18 to be exact). Each visit prior to Escape salon kept me searching for the right place. I have been coming to Escape for about 5 years and in my 5 yrs. I have had the pleasure of experiencing high quality service and dedication each time.

Yvonne whom I only let do my hair has never disappointed me. I have had the pleasure of experiencing with Yvonne: Wash and set, Flat iron, Deep conditioning treatment, wash and cut and hair curling--All have been wonderful experiences.

When I started seeing Norma for eyebrows and nails, I noticed how much thicker and nicer my nails and eyebrows were growing. I did not think I would find anyone to help me correct my overly thin eyebrows and brittle nails but Norma made sure to correct my worry. Since visiting Norma I have been very happy with both the shape and length of my eyebrows and nails.

I have, in my most recent visit with Norma, had the pleasure of having her style my hair in an "up do". I showed Norma a picture of exactly what I was looking for and she replicated the style beyond what I imagined!

Escape salon also specializes in massage, make-up, spray tanning/airbrush and more..I reccomend treating your self to visiting the salon before a special event or even a new look (hair color, hair cut etc.). I look forward to a spa treatment with escape very soon--I can assure you I will not be disappointed and look forward to sharing my experience with all of you very soon!

Yvonne. I needed my roots done and a good blow dry before an important interview. Although I had been to the salon several times before and was happy I never had the pleasure of having Yvone work on my hair. She had incredible reviews and I knew I wanted her to do my hair.

I had an appt. with Yvonne, but wanted to come in a day earlier. It happens that Yvonne was there and graciously said she would stay late to take me. This was while she didn't even know me.

Well, this is a professional like no other. Yvonne matched my color so perfectly using a couple of samples and showing me the color before doing the work. Yvonne carefully applied the dye. Yvonne carefully did my roots without touching the highlights.

I asked Yvonne if I needed a hair cut and she honestly said I could wait another month which showed me how much integrity she has. She didn't want to lead me to spend more money if it wasn't necessary. She easily could have told me I needed a haircut since I was leaning towards a cut.

I could tell before Yvonne even started blowing my hair that the color was extraordinary. After the blow dry I felt like a million bucks. My hair stayed styled, shiny and bouncy for days.

I highly recommend the Escape Salon. The staff is lovely and you can feel at home immediately.

Yvonne is an extraordinary talent in the northwest Bronx, Riverdale. I feel like I discovered a shining star and secret gem.

Being a world traveler and having the opportunity to have my hair done in many different countries, states and cities by celebrity hair stylists, I can say that I have never had such a color and blow dry by anyone anywhere including overseas in Paris and London.

I can't wait to come back to Yvonne to have my hair cut and for her to do highlights. After many years of searching for the perfect stylist, colorist and mensch I have finally found my girl.

Don't walk, run to use Yvonne and this lovely salon tucked away in North Riverdale. You will not be sorry. In fact you will thank me.

Wonderful Haircut from Evon!!. I was in dire need of a GOOD haircut, after cheaping out on the last couple and getting uneven layers for $20... I just moved into riverdale and so was looking for a good salon in the area, and escape salon came up in google. The reviews for Evon were all raves, so I booked an appointment online-- love the online booking btw, VERY CONVENIENT and AWESOME!

I went down there today, and I have to say this is one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten!! My hair looks awesome, and I know I definitely do not have uneven ends anymore. Evon was so nice, we had a lovely chat but it wasn't forced at all. I even overheard the front desk lady telling Evon how great my hair looked as I was walking out the door. If you're looking for a new hairdresser definitely check out Escape!!

AMAZING SERVICES AND STAFF. I am a student at the College down the block and have been coming here for many different services over the years. I absolutely love the atmosphere! The staff are incredibly friendly and sweet and make you feel completely welcomed from the second you walk in the door. The girls who do the spray tans are very professional and amazing at what they do. I ALWAYS get compliments. It truly feels like an escape, whether i am waiting for a hair appointment sipping coffee and reading a magazine or just engaging in conversation with the personable receptionist. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. My husband bought a package for me over the internet. When i arrived on my spa date, I wasn't comfortable with the atmosphere. Receptionist insisted I have their male give me a massage, when i specifically requested a female. All of my services couldn't be done in one day because they didn't have the staff available. So I just reserved for another wkend. A few hours later, I just wanted a full refund. Nothing was written on their website about not getting a full refund. So my husband calls, and the manager tells him that she will give only a portion of a refund. So we pretty much lost our on $80 when no services were given and the package was well over $200.

Ideal. I booked an appointment with Evon, and she made me feel like a superstar. My color was great, my cut was fantastic, and the blow out didn't have me tearing up like it usually does. Conversation with her was easy; I didn't feel like I had to hide behind a magazine like I sometimes do. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the pricing - and that has nothing to do with Evon. I got ready to pull out what I thought was a very generous tip only to find that it had worked out to be normal because I wasn't charged the price on the website. When I got upstairs to pay the rest, the woman told me that highlights START at $85 - something not mentioned in their price list. I wasn't prepared for that and had to put it on my credit card. I have to admit that I've paid more for highlights in the past in general when I had more of a beauty budget and I don't think I was charged an unfair price, but I definitely felt misled. Was it worth it? Yes. Do I wish I had known I'd be spending an extra 40 bucks? Absolutely. Would I have gone had I known it would have been an extra 40? Yes (but I might have changed my plans to have drinks in the city later with a girlfriend!) Would I go again? Of course!

Hair colorist. Yvonne Wynn is an AMAZING hair colorist who works with all hair types, from thin to thick, straight to curly. She can turn a HOT MESS into a SUCCESS. I suffered from addiction to box color, leaving my hair looking like the rainbow. She took one look at my hair and knew just the fix. While she won't give away the recipe for her secret potion, you will leave her chair feeling like a million bucks. She's got a great personality and loves to laugh. Worth the 20 min drive and the $65. I'm new to the US and the bronx so I've had to find new places to get everything done. That being said, I'm a creature of habit and was extremely fearful of having anyone touch my hair as its my prized possession and my stylist in Trinidad spoilt me because she was just so darn good! ...The first and last place i tried in NY for a simple trim butchered my hair.

After 8 months of procrastinating I decided to try Escape after reading the reviews here and went this Sunday to have my hair cut and reshaped. I can tell you honeslty that I am so happy with the job Azemine did that I cant stop smiling. She made me feel like my old self ..gorgeous well groomed hair. She was friendly, easy to talk to and took her time with my cut . I could see how attentive she was to making sure that her cuts were even and with super straight hair like mine its very important. Great news for me...because I've finally found someone who I can trust with my hair. Thanks Azemine!

Athmosphere is nice but service is below average. Surprised by the positive comments. I took my two daughters here and I was very disappointed with the outcomes. Their hair was cut by a young man, who spent all of his time talking to two young women while cutting their hair. The outcome - their hair was longer on on side than the other.

Also, if taking any fitness class there, pay as you go. The instructor cancels at short notice.

Would not use this salon again.
