Ew. I forgot places like this actually existed. – Ugh... not the place you want to be on a saturday night! THe people at the door thought a little to highly of themselves (I hate pr girls who think their job is up there with curing cancer), but its really not bad getting in if your a guy dressed well with some cash or if your a hot girl. For some reason, I was the only girl there not wearing a barely there white dress (the ill fitting, too tight herve leger knockoffs were quite popular). The guys tended to be pretty skeevy. Good decor, sorta okay music, awful crowd. If you want to go somewhere where you have to spend money to party with prostitute-ish girls, or accept drinks from a sleezy guy from jersey, this might be your place. But personally, I recommend going elsewhere and saving some dignity.
Gross – Filthy, smelled funny. Didn't stay long.
Great Music – I went for my birthday the music was so good, we were there till the club closed. We had a VIP section it was a bit on the pricey side. But the waitress was so good. She kept checking up on me at least every hour and gave us refills of soda, juice and water. I came with 14 people no one paid to get in. Who ever came on there own were discounted at the door.
A den of thieves, beware and avoid at all cost. – The Madison is the worst club ever. Spend your hard earned money some where more decent. They rob you at the door. Charge you $20.00 when they suppose to charge $15.00 (when your on the list). They rob you at the coat check. Charge you $8.00 when it says $4.00 on the wall. The bartenders are a bunch of rude retards. They take 30 minutes or longer to make your drink. This place is just horrible. Go at your own risk!!!!!!!
Rude employees, take your hard-earned money elsewhere - respect of customers is nonexistent here – Note: when using your credit card at this venue, 20% is automatically charged to your card too. The bartenders do not tell you this before charging your card. As a former waitress, I know the value of tipping, but I also know the value of full disclosure and respect to the client. The harsh tone and lack of respect from the bartender when I simply asked why I was charged more than expected was uncalled for. Added to this, the staff is not well coordinated and continually either push or curtly demand you to move in a crowded place where there is no room to maneuver. Yes, the place was packed on a Saturday night, but in NYC there are plenty of other, better alternatives to direct your hard-earned cash. The long lines for this place are definitely not worth the wait.
Not a bad place to party. – I have been here twice, for NYE 2007/08 and last weekend. I would give the Madison two stars for their NYE party, due to the aforementioned problems with alcohol and gen admission rolling through VIP. Also, the music for the entire night was 70/80s and techno... you would think that the DJs would be playing better music for NYE. The place was dead after 1 am because of the alcohol situation and the musical selection.
On the other hand, I had a much better time last weekend. I rolled in using a bday party guestlist and had no problems at all at the door. The music was much better, although the crowd was definitely a little rougher around the edges. The place was pretty packed and the bartenders were still attentive. I wouldn't give this place five stars simply because there are other places in the city where a better time is to be had. But if you're on the guestlist, the Madison isn't a bad venue to party in.
dont ever go there – this place is the worst club ever it was nothing before it is nothing now they have the worst people that lie at the door. You have to buy a botle for evry person u have to have on your party even if you call n make a guest list. i went there 2 times it was the same thing it was by birthday they made my birthday the most stresful birthday ever so pls dont go to this place save the money for something worth
Save your money on New Years Eve! – We had a group of 24 who bought $180 VIP tickets for New Years Eve here. They advertise the VIP area has having a cocktail waitress. This is really false advertising as the "cocktail waitress" is only there to bring you bottle service, not cocktails! To get a cocktail or a beer you had to go to the bar yourself and get it. There wasn't even a VIP bar! You were mixed in with the people who paid general admission prices! The drinks were terrible and they were served in little plastic dixie cups. They had no liquor in them at all and when we said something to the bartender she responded with "honey, you're drinking for free." Excuse me? Free? I paid $180 to drink for FREE? It was supposed to be a premium open bar but all you got was rotgut liquor. The place ran out of EVERYTHING including all beer at one point. They didn't even have limes the ENTIRE night! How do you not have limes? Did you not know that NYE was coming and plan for it?? We were supposed to receive 9 comped bottles of liquor throughout the night but they would only give you one at a time and that's if you could actually find your 'cocktail' waitress. After we received 6 bottles they proclaimed they ran out of bottles. There were plenty of bottles of grey goose but they wouldn't give that to us. Unbelievable. All we wanted was what we paid for and were told we were to receive. There was nothing stopping the general admission people from coming into our VIP area. All night long we were playing security and asking people to leave the area who wondered in. As paying customers, we should not be the ones doing that job. Someone from general admission even stole a full bottle of champagne off our table! There was no dance floor- they covered it in extra VIP tables to rake in even more money. Not that a dance floor would have helped- the music was atrocious. I can understand early in the night saving some of the better songs but the music just never got going! Overall just terrible.
