Editorial Review for Le Sous Sol – by Keith Wagstaff
In Short
Owners Linda and Sarah Belkebir travel to Belgium at least two or three times a year to scope out the country's hippest under-the-radar designers. The result of their travels is a collection that is subtle, feminine and structurally adventurous, including a thick wool sweater with voluminous folds that blanket the neckline from A.F. Vandervorst and a white, pleated blouse with intricate stitching and cloth buttons from Jesse Lecomte. The space itself impresses with an understated look consisting of low ceilings and slate stone walls.
Hits: The owners stock talented designers that are hard to find elsewhere in New York.
Misses: The store's offerings seem a bit more Soho than Lower East Side, but the way the neighborhood is changing there might not be much of a difference between the two soon.
