The Worst Panasian food in NYC

by nycuisine1 at Citysearch

Aja on Sixth Avenue has mediocre food and a rude staff especialy the bartenders. There is no reason to go to this establishment as they have a scam about the happy hour as they will not honor their buy one get one free and tag on additonal charges. It's crowded and not well staffed. The bartenders are a poor excuse for help as one guy is not only rude but down right stupid.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Bad food, Rude staff, bait and switch happy hour, and the customer is always wrong policy.

Fun Place For a Quick Dinner at the Bar

by 2VillageGirls at Citysearch

I like this restaurant. I come here regularly after a class on Monday. I can sit at the bar and by the second visit the barkeep knew the kind of saki I liked. This is a good place for saki lovers. I have never gotten beyond the starter menu -- because I love the choices I have made and continue to enjoy them. I recommend the steamed (or) fried crab dumplings. The coverings are soft and easy to eat. The fillings are very good - savoury - and the dish (6 dumplings) come with a mix of mango and soy sauce that is incredible. A beautiful mix of flavours. The next starter I usually choose is the edamame (steamed with salt) and the most amazing choice: the grilled sea bass skewers. You must try this. I have had california rolls which were fresh and good but I have yet to explore the sushi menu. A great and lovely fusion of various cuisines.

terrible

i picked up some simple sushi. spicy tune. a tuna toll. and. a jalapeno/yellowtail roll. it is the worst sushi i have had in this city. not only over priced. the rice was crunchy. the spicy tuna is 90% bright orange-red sauce with barely any tuna. the yellowtail jalapeno was served not with fresh jalapeno's but with CANNED ones. to top it off they sent me home without wasabi and ginger. which this sushi needed to mask the taste.

i am a sushi lover. and. this place is to be avoided.

Disappointing

by slvly00 at Citysearch

I was attracted to this place by the amazing decor. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and seated by friendly staff member. I ordered the lunch special, which at a cost of $9 was a bit pricier than similar West Village restaurant's lunch specials. I had the Thai-style Chilean Sea Bass and Chicken Teriyaki. Both tasted bland. My miso soup was extremely salty and the salad with the carrot ginger dressing was pretty disgusting. I asked for an alternative dressing, but carrot ginger was the only dressing offered. I love sushi so I also sampled a couple of rolls and to my dismay, I discovered that the fish wasn't the freshest! Whoever designed this restaurant did a great job on decorating, but I don?t recommend the food at all!

  • Pros: Decor
  • Cons: Food, Value for your buck
