BEST BRUNCH DEAL IN THE VILLAGE!!!. The brunch at Bar Blanc (or Bar Blanc Bistro as they are now calling themselves) is the best kept secret in New York. After suffering through tons of over-crowded brunch spots where I have been harried and hurried and over-charged, I have found heaven. I am a BIG fan of brunch (I love booze and eggs), and Bar Blanc does it very very well. There were couples and groups at cozy tables but we chose to hang out at the bar with the sweetie pie bartender. $18 for food, coffee, and a drink, and additional drinks are super-cheap. Also -- it was quiet and not at all crowded. Definitely my favorite place for brunch in the West Village.
Citysearch Editorial Review. White-washed brick walls. White chairs. Soft white lights. A long white marble bar. Banquettes covered in--you guessed it--white. This is a restaurant that understands branding. So it’s up to the French dishes to add some color. When Bar Blanc became Bar Blanc Bistro a while back, the menu got an update, and now features an hors d’oeuvres section, including crispy pig ears and house-made country terrine. Items like the Boston lettuce and hearts of palm salad show even more color; entrees, such as the seared black cod and slow-roasted Duroc pork loin, shade a little darker. And like the décor, presentation on the plate evidences plenty of care and concern.
Outrageously impressive. This is my new favorite in NY. Attentive service, never hovering, and very friendly. The menu was balanced, and everything on it is realistic, but artistic. The ambience is perfect for nice conversation and this is the ideal date spot!
Overpriced Experience. Ok Girlfriends and Guyfriends this is not going to be pleasant. Simply put: Expensive and bad service. The design and decor is excellent, however, just look from the window. Once you go in you are subject to high prices, little to show for it and staff who are focused on their own needs and not that of the customer. I remember seeing little dots of cheese on the plate and a liver pate that had no taste. Sorry folks, but I do not recommend this restaurant. It left me feeling cold.
Delicious Food, Great Service. Went with a friend on a Friday night. We made a reservation but we were a bit late. Which was no problem. They seated us right away. The host and hostess were very sweet. As was our waiter. Some of the best service I've had in NY. I ordered the pork which was delicious. The chef also sent out two amuse-bouche (one-bite) dishes. Nice decor as well. Will be going back with my mom and sister this week for a repeat hopefully!
Best Salmon. This place is AWESOME!!! The salmon is off the hook- I'm addicted- actually crave it!! Decor and ambience is great, not overwhelming- service is superb. Loves this place!
manixo. Sucked. Made and confirmed a reservation for 4 people and when we arrived the reservation was only for 2 people. We left otherwise had to wait 1 hr for the next available table for4. This place was a waste of time. Not worth it.
exquisite food - beautiful restaurant - not cheap!. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed bar Blanc. We didn't find it too noisy at all. Our food was carefully composed and had deep flavor. The black cod dish was one of the best fish dishes Ive had in New York. We thought the Porcelet was also well-prepared. Our service was good and knowledgeable, however we didn't care for their outfits, which resembled old tuxedo shirts. Overall great experience, but bring your wallet - its not a bargain by a long shot. Good night out though.
MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR EAR PLUGS!!!. The most memorable thing about Bar Blanc is the noise level my ears are still ringing this morning. I decided to try this spot one night while dining solo and ate at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and provided excellent service. I started with the warm scallop appetizer which was very good borderline excellent. However my main course of Black Cod was pale in comparison. I also felt it was on the pricey side weighing in the atmosphere, neighborhood and food. A one time wonder for me with Bar Blanc.
Great experience.
Bar Blanc was the eating experience I had been yearning for for sometime. It is owned by a consortium of old Bouley employees and is a pleasant mix of Bouley standard and downtown atmosphere. My guest and I were greeted as we walked in the door and were offered to check our coats. We were then ushered a short walk to our table about halfway down opposite the ba...
