One of the best sushi restaurant's in the city!. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city!! Hands down. I went to Sato after reading various positive reviews on Yelp, Menupages, City Search etc and could not have been more pleased with my experience there. We walked in and were immediatley greated with a genuine warm welcome by the staff - the owner himself came to our table and walked us through the menu! Personnal service like that is such a rariety in the city. He even brought us a special free appetizer to try - really great!! Some noteworthy dishes are the beef tataki (probably one of the best things i have tasted), the spicey tuna, and the ooba-maki. Seriously so so good. They have a lot of unique rolls you can't find anywhere else - with so many sushi restaurants in the city, their menu makes them stand out. My roommate and I now go there at least every other week. The owner remembered us by name and we notice he treats all his customers like gold. The restaurant is his passion - the food is his artistic expression. Simply put, great food, great service great atmosphere. You must check this place out!!!

My fav sushi place!!!! You have to try it!.
I love this place! I have been going here with my best friend for over 8 months now and we have a wonderful experience every time. Everyone is so kind and personable. The food is delicious and always fresh. Definitely try the Beef Tataki to start and the Dancing Eel roll is awesome. Ooba-Maki is also one of my favorites. We try to go to Sato once a week, because we crave it all the time. I have been in NYC for almost 3 years and I am a very picky eater, but at Sato, everything tastes good and you will leave full and happy!
Honestly, if you want some great Sushi (they have so many unique and yummy rolls) with a low key, relaxing atmosphere and a nice staff, you have to check it out!

Best Jap restaurant. All the workers in the restaurant are very polite especially the waiters. Service is good and of course the food as well; it's authentic Japanese food. I recommend the volcano roll; it's tasty and delicious. The crunchy flakes on top of the roll add the finishing touches to it. It's definitely worth your money!

GREAT FOOD. Great atmosphere for dining in small and large groups. The food is well presented and taste wonderful. Everything is fresh and will satisfy your appetite. One of my favorite appetizer is the "Dynamite" filled with mushrooms and scallops. A roll I really enjoy eating is the "Soft Shell Crab Roll", it's crunchy and delicious. I would recommend to all my friends and family. =)

Great Sushi. I make a trek from downtown just for Sato. Food is consistently great!! A few favorites include the white hot roll and the spicy tuna martini. Must try!!! He'll have a liquor license soon - but it's BYOB in the meantime (which is good as it keeps prices down)

Favorite UES sushi restaurant has been found!!.
Last night my boyfriend and I had an amazing meal at Sato. We shared the Temptation, a Lobster Tail roll and tuna sashimi and loved every bite. Not only was the sushi fresh, but the flavor combinations were unique and delicious. Sato has a BYOB policy (amazing and rare!!) and our waitress was very curteous. We were also greeted by a very humble head chef who wanted to make sure our meal was great. All in all it was a wonderful dinner and I cannot wait to head back for more. Though the restuarant ambiance is minimal, the great food more than compensates!!

outstanding Japanese-way beyond just sushi. We love this place-sushi is incredibly fresh. Also great kitchen dishes-very creative blend of traditional Japanese and innovative French. Service is friendly and helpful. Also very reasonably priced which makes it great for our weekly sushi/Japanese.

one of my favorites.
i think this is one of the best jp restaurants i ever tried..i didnt exaggerate!
the dishes are reli special... food are fresh and they are reli DELICIOUS! moreover, price is reasonable.
i like the atmosphere tht makes me feel comfortable...i always have great time with my friends at sato.
people there are friendly, too.
if u have no idea what to have for dinner tonight, go to sato!
