HORRIBLE!!!!!!. Dont ever go here, you are going to pay too much for the worst Mexican food of your life. No matter how hungry you are, just find a different place!!!!

Great Take Out, Too Small to Eat In. I love coming here in the Summer. It's great to grab your food and then head out to a nearby park. The agua de orchata is great on a hot day and their fish tacos are really good. Also, I love tortas and this place gives you a nice big one, really hits the spot. Beware, if you're planning on eating there it gets crowded pretty fast. The space is small, but other than that it's great.

average mexican, better eats at nearby la esquina. i ordered this as delivery figuring I'd try one of the newer neighborhood mexican joints. food arrived quickly, was fresh, and certainly quality made...however, the tacos and the buritos were definitely lacking in flavor. i was really hoping for a new go-to mexican place, but to me, la esquina is still hands down the winner. overall, a good staple mexican, but without any standout qualities and better eats a few blocks away.

BEST NYC AUTHENTIC TACOS. As a HUGE fan of Mexican food I have never been more satisfied than when eating the tacos at Pinche. The carne asada and fish tacos are AWESOME!!! Nice juicy steak, ALL FRESH vegetables, soft corn-tortillas that are just right, and some really AMAZING salsa to top it off. The prices are totally budget-oriented and portions are perfect for a quick grab. Alternatively, if you sit down to eat, you'll be entering a fun atmosphere for this type of joint - I'm talking chili pepper lights, Mexican cactus lamps, and other sorts of vibrant yet really cozy pieces of decoration. To complement an already genuine meal, Jeff (the owner) will encourage you to try one of his authentically prepared Mexican beverages... the Horchata really stands out. In the end, I just had to take some pictures of this place before I left, to retain a piece of such a memorable dining experience. And thanks, Jeff, for some great stories about Mexico and the delicious food you guys serve.

Awesome!! super super awesome. This place is great! The food tastes very fresh, it's so close to Cafe Habana but I have been going here instead. The best burritos around and the corn on the cob is great. It is also affordable. It's great when the weather is nice you can sit outside. They are quick enough so it's doable on a short lunch break. The music they play is really great but too loud and they need to turn it down, and then the guy doesn't have to shout the orders so loud!.

Fish taco Phenom!. Like the reviewer below, I had no idea this place was here. I was doing a little retail therapy in Soho and the store owner told me to grab a quick bite next door - and I may have to go back and give him a big kiss! What a great suggestion! Fabulous fish and shrimp tacos and the horchata (I've never even had it before and I don't believe its anywhere in the city) is sooooo delicious! I even suggested that they make it hot with a little kahlua for the wintertime, but that was purely for selfish reasons. lol They even have that roasted corn with the cheese! I thought the other restaurant around the corner was the only ones that did that! Now I have TWO places to go to get my Elotel fix! I love, love, love Pinche, and I'll definitely be going back!

A pinch of Tiajuana.. Being from the West Coast I had all but given up finding authentic Mexican cuisine this side of the Gulf. Then one day whilst traipsing through the row of chic boutiques on Mott street I stumbled upon this small out of the way taco joint. Expecting my usual disapointment I figured I'd stop in for a quick sample. Boy was I in for a surprise!

My first taste led to another and before I new it I was in Taco heaven! They do em soft style (for those that think Taco Bell is the real thing-not!) and while messy (rubber gloves may be apt) the mix of fresh ingredients and spices was an ecstatic experience. After trying the steak and chicken I figured I'd go for the shrimp. Heaven! But when they suggested the fish taco (fresh grilled Mahi Mahi) I was stunned. Who would think to put such on a lowly taco? Surely elevates it from the "fast food" category.

That topped me out for my first visit but I've gone several times since and have yet to run out of things to try. The el pastore (a marinated sliced pork that comes off a gyro- skewer) is a great wake me up. And the rolled taco is becoming my new favorite. Of course the fish burrito takes the Mahi Mahi experience up to overload level!

If you have been accustomed to bland corporate Mexican fare then this is not the place for you. I haven't tasted some of these spices since leaving San Diego and they certainly conjured up some fond memories. There's plenty of salsa options available for the more daring (and the red sauce certainly cleared my head). A coupla Mexican cervesa's there to wash things down (no need to BYOB unless it's tequila-though that is always close by).

I do recommend going between the lunch and dinner rushes as it is like a little Tokyo subway car during prime time. The wait does give one time to talk with the fellow patrons-all of whom I met seem to already be regulars-and listen to their favorites. Plus I hear they're opening another up at Bleeker and Lafayette soon! Can't wait!

BEST TACO"S in all of New York. By far the best Tacos and Burritos in all of New York City. The energy and passion that the staff and management put into the food (and the experience) is quite evident. They get it! Finally a Taqueria in New York that California transplants can feel proud about. Since discovering Pinche (I won't get into the name) I have found myself schlepping down from the Upper East Side to get my fix at least once a week.

Terrible experience. I don't usually write reviews, but our experience today was so appalling that I feel compelled to warn people. First of all, there was a server screaming out the orders at the top of his lungs like a hotdog seller in a baseball game, which added to the concert-level volume of the music, made any conversation impossible. Second, we were not asked how spicy we wanted the food and were served the spiciest Mexican food I've ever tried, but other than the spice the food was almost completely tasteless. Third, the floor was filthy, like the floor of a bar after New Years. If you can, avoid this place. If you have no choice, go, but take a pair of earplugs and a bag of salt and pepper to add taste.
