I recently visited my best friend who lives in Astoria. After long hours of shopping on Steinway and walking around in Astoria Park we decided to stop at Mojave for a quick bite. Now, it was mid afternoon on a Wednesday but the place had a few people there. The service was prompt and our waiter was very attentive. We ordered a caesar salad and nachos to share and loved it. We also ordered two quesadillas and they were delicious. Overall, great place which I highly recommend!

I've been here for drinks/light dinner with a coworker several times and also once for brunch and most of the time, I have a pretty good time. The service in inconsistent - I've never had horrible service, but sometimes they can be a little slow. The food is pretty good - I especially like the shrimp crisps. It's definitely more upscale than most Mexican food that I've had and it's generally a lighter feel than most of the heavy, greasy food you usually find in Mexican restaurants. They use a lot of seafood, so it seems almost like Cuban or Puerto Rican cuisine. The terrace outside is very nice during the spring/summer months and I've never had to wait for a table. The brunch menu is different from lunch/dinner menu and I probably would not recommend Mojave for brunch--menu is rather limited and doesn't have much in the way of more "brunch-y" fare, but it is great for relaxed drinks with friends. It's also a larger restaurant, so I imagine they could handle a large group fairly easily.

The ambience of this restaurant is amazing. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and the food, though somewhat American-ized, was delicious and appealing. It was a little expensive, however, as my party of 4 ended up with a $85 bill (tax and tip included)
