In Short – Mike Caswell, a former engineer and Starbucks executive, is the inventor of the café's unique Javabot system. It basically works like this: An employee presses all of the factors (type of bean, serving size, etc.) into a touchscreen, which prompts beans to be sucked from their containers through a system of pneumatic tubes to the grinder, where they are automatically turned into a fresh cup of coffee or espresso. The advantage of all of this Jetsons-esque technology is a consistent brew, no wasted beans and fresher coffee.
