“It is unusual to have such high quality food and a full menu (including seriously fabulous flan for dessert) for the price.”
“the brunch selections seemed appetizing, but i can't comment on them, as i didn't have anything besides a drink or two.”
“small peaces of fish inside of a broth, Service is very Poor, to slow the French speaking waiter is very rude and obnoctious when he told me it's a minimum 20% tips was a killer.”
“Some restaurants are so big on atmosphere, they forget about the menu.”
“great place friendly bartender”
“We will definitely be back for the food, atmosphere and to see our favorite bartender.”
“Finally, after I paid the bill and got up to leave, neither the manager nor the waiter, who were both within feet of my table, thanked me or bade me a good evening as I walked out.”
“loved the value and food at Saju Bistro.”

Great place horrible service. this used to be my favorite spot in midtown. Until a few days ago when I sat at the bar the regular bartender was off so I asked the young lady behind the bar for a glass of temprenillo. She said that they don't have it when I pointed to the bottle she said that's a rioja! She had no clue about the wine or the food she was serving did not know the difference between oysters and mussels she said it was the same thing! Then she talked to me about her private life in a very unclassy manner which at that point I wasn't in the mood for so I left I will not be back there again. Very disappointing.
GREAT appeal.
Actually found this place by mistake and was pleasantly surprised by the food. Lighting was great, food was amazing! The curb appeal of this place was so great, got to see a man walk RIGHT into one of those planters out front. A little comedy makes every meal better!
If you like Sea Bass, there might not be a better place to enjoy the delicate crispiness of the skin than this place. If you have the chance, GO and enjoy!
Quiet atmosphere, efficient service.
Came here recently for a business lunch with my team.
What a place. Had I not know where I was going, I would've just walked right passed it.
The service was fast and friendly. A waitress-in-training was assisted by a more experienced staff throughout our meal.
The decor made me feel like I'm in a small bistro somewhere in France and not in NYC.
I went with the steak frites ($27) and ended with the lemon tart with passion fruit sorbet ($8). A great dining experience and a treasured find in this part of midtown Manhattan.
Such a jewel!!!. Hiding in one of the busiest corner of the world, lies a little jewel. For starter, the food is more than decent and the prices quite reasonable. What an exception in such a neighborhood!!! The service was over my expectation for a bistro concept. And for ending, a decoration reminiscent of a "sud de la france" restaurant where you will stop by, driving on the "nationale 7" between Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Tropez. What a treat!!!!
great ambiance & wholesome food. A colleague of mine told me about this bistro where he eats lunch and sometimes breakfast. We just got back from France so I wanted to try this place and so happy that we did. I felt like I was back in France! The waiters were exceptional and the ambiance was very relaxing after shopping and walking around Times square. We had the goat cheese & mussles for appetizers, chicken & steak for dinner and it was yum! I couldn't pass up dessert so I had to have the lemon tart...double yum! I will definitely have to come back for brunch one day and have a dinner after a show next time so I can try the rest of the menu.
abusive ownership.
we went in to the restaurant and were greeted from a nice lady, and got a little table in thee corridor of the place, as we waited for our waiter we were delighted with the menu. the waiter came and was very corteous, we noticed that a couple young people were working that night but very professional.
The only BAD THING that we experienced it was maybe the owner (obnoxious older guy with glasses and a lazy eye) was yelling and screaming to the staff like he owned them. after we were eating and to hear that (oh! you are not here to smile! you are here to work) we felt like blood dining. HOW IS IT possible that a grown up man talk to others like he is God and not caring about the people that is eating at the time? is unbelieveble that we live in the year 2010 and still racist people are in charge of these establishments!
I will not go back and will never recommend this place to anyone where they exploit and take advantage of the staff.
is un-human!
This is an inconsiderate review and your critics are completly out of icontext...
Another Great Meal.
Went back to this marvelous Bistro for a business lunch. It is consistently good. Starting with walking through the door being greeted so politely by a pleasant host. Now that I have been there a few times, I am always recognized. The decor is typically French and one forgets they are in NY in a busy neighbor -- it is so charming.
The food NEVER disappoints - it is delicious and the menu is varied. They also have a great wine list.
My business appointment was from Los Angeles and was delighted with the whole lunch experience and said they would go back for dinner one evening while in NYC.
Saturday night dinner.
Bad Food with Bad Service , the restroom smells urine and had no lockers, the salmon i had wasn't fresh and the oily potatoes dry, the escargot had no test and to finish "The Bouillabaise" at least there is a shrimp and potatoes! very fishy that was just a joke!!!!! small peaces of fish inside of a broth, Service is very Poor, to slow the French speaking waiter is very rude and obnoctious when he told me it's a minimum 20% tips was a killer. We told the waiter we have no problem to pay tips BUT WE DON'T NEED SOMEONE TELLING AND DICTATING US WHAT TO DO! we paid and left tips and told the waiter we didn't like the food except salad after paying, he just replied to us he's not surprised to hear these comments since they don't have a chef !
That's a shame for us wasting money for what i call the longest and the worst dining experience i've never had before. We left that place at 7.25pm and made the promise never to come to this restaurant.
Excellent Restaurant with great service. We love Saju the food is great and it gives us as a family a chance to eat like back home. The staff is nice and pleasant and the service is great. Time Square is a fast area but we were served at the right time giving us a chance to enjoy the meal while we had a chance to run to the performance. The owner and the manager give a real authetic taste to the place.
Amazing Food & Service!!.
My wife and I dined at Saju on NYE and can not rave about this restaurant enough! I was quite surprised to read the review posted by "aznadonis_nyc" about the bouillabaisse as that is what my wife ordered who could not stop talking about its authenticity... and she's French!!! The dish reminded us of our last time travelling France's southern coast.
Our server and the restaurant's manager conversed with us in French throughout the night which had us smiling ear-to-ear.
We will certainly be returning to Saju in the near future!
