Elettaria combines great cuisines of the world in a very cozy atmosphere that will have you recommending it to everyone. The name comes from the Latin for green cardamom so expect some spices. Come step up to the zinc bar under the barn-wood ceiling and have a drink before you enjoy an amazing overall dining experience.

In Short
Now there's a reason to come to Eighth Street besides shoe-shopping. Chef/owner Akhtar Nawab pieces together his Indian heritage, Kentucky roots and greenmarket-driven kitchen experience (Craft, Gramercy Tavern) as skillfully as some of the cobblers on the strip. The resulting menu includes sweetbreads with pineapple and pink peppercorns; wild boar with marrow, cumin, orange and vermicelli; and cardamom rasmali (sweet cheese balls). Homey touches like low-slung ceilings, a faux staircase and an open kitchen especially make it a comfy spot to kick up one's heels.

I went here on Saturday with my fiance after hearing some good things about it and was expecting a flavorful meal. While the service and atmosphere were great, the food was bland. We ordered the crabmeat appetizer - it was ok but again nothing special and definitely not worth $14. For entree, I ordered striped bass and he got a bavette - the food had no flavor, very boring. I could have prepared better tasting meal at home. For the prices that they charge, they should be serving better tasting food. The meal was totally not worth the price. We were very disappointed and will never come back

Really nice fancy restaurant. Unlike many fancy restaurant this place doesn't seem to carry to much hoity-toity-ness because the service is still friendly and attentive without looking down on you.

Though it was the the most expensive 2-person meal I have ever enjoyed (or at least paid for!) I cannot say I regret a single cent. Everything was excellently prepared and presented, and many things were thoughtful and surprising. Professional yet warm service. I'm sure I'll desperately wish it was a cheaper experience when it comes time to pay my rent next month.
