if you haven't been there...you must!

My best friend and I found this wine bar treasure about 1.5yrs ago and have been going back every week since. Not only do we adore the place, but I make a point to take my out of town friends, work colleagues, and NY friends as much as possible.
The location is very convenient especially before or after a Broadway show. It's always easy to get a table and you truly feel taken care of by the staff. I love recommending Gallo Nero mainly because it's so affordable for anyone's budget. It's tough to afford service like this at any other establishment. You will not be disappointed. If you haven't been there...you must!
- Pros: atmosphere, service, wine selection, food...and prices!
- Cons: in 1.5yrs i have no complaints
Fantastic Evening

Two friends and I, who are all Hell's Kitchen residents and regulars in the local spots had never been to Gallo Nero. We had all heard mixed reviews and agreed to try it - so glad we did. The russian waitress Anna was amazing and very helpful in steering us to the right menu and wine choices. The food was reasonably priced and the service was delighted. We made a dinner reservation for a party of 12 coming in town for a special celebration in two weeks!
- Pros: Location and wine selection
restaurant that doesn't honor reservations
by miriamuzzan
I arrived at 6:20 for my 6:30 reservation. Although there were empty tables for 2, I was told they were reserved and asked to sit at a communal table. When I said I preferred not to, I was told that I could wait and see if a 2 opened up.
I said that I had no time because I had theater tickets. The hostess/waitress and manager/waiter argued about whether to give me the table. I said never mind and left. I went across the street to Etc Etc and had a great meal.
- Pros: none
- Cons: rude and inconsiderate service
Overpriced and bad, cheapie italian food
by LAKEESHA
Stay away from here! On the menu it says that they have a roasted beet salad but the beets were from a can. We asked the manager about this and he said that it is not possible to roast beets. ?????
Then when my friend made a trip to the restroom she overheard the manager yelling at the chef about the beets and how to make tiramisu, as the chef said he couldn't make it. Also, the the place has a bad, stuffy smell like it has not been cleaned very well. This restaurant is an absolute ripoff, complete with snobby hostess, rude manager, loud music and dank lighting.
- Pros: None
- Cons: over priced, stinks, everything tastes the same
Good wine list.
by hpgirl
Good food but the wine list was even better. The staff knew the wine list very well and if you don't know anything about wine, they will find one to fit your taste.
- Pros: Inexpensive for a wine resturant / has a romantic feel -Intimate setting
- Cons: Place is just to small.
