Reliable and reasonable Auto Repair in Jersey City!. I own a 1992 Honda Accord with nearly 200,000 miles on it. From the moment I moved to Jersey City in January of 2001, I have been taking my baby to A One Auto Works and have had nothing but WONDERFUL experiences! Over the past 10 years, they have kept my car running and are always helpful when it comes to payment.

Over the years, I have recommended them to many friends and everyone has had a wonderful experience at this auto repair shop.

They are always quick, efficient and honest about what needs to be done. They have always given me a fair quote and have always stayed within the quote on all of my repairs! I don't know what I would do if I ever moved away from Jersey City!!!

I trusts A One Auto Works wholeheartedly! You are in very good hands there!

A One CROOKS. HORRIBLE and RIP OFF.

AVOID, one thing they do good is billing.

I was ripped off horrible for a small issue with my car. inspite of mentioning the problem the mechanic would keep on spending days trying to fix it.

Expensive and Rip Off. They charged me 75 dollars for a fan belt for a 2005 Toyota Corolla, retail price for a genuine belt is $30! Not only that, when I left the car there on Saturday they said it would be done by 3:00, I called at 3:00 and they had not even looked at it and now said come back on Monday, if they had said so in the first place I would have gone somewhere else. When I finally did leave it there they changed the belt but did not check if that was the only thing causing a noise so when I picked up the car they said we should also check for anything else that may be causing the noise. So I brought it back the next day and now he says they tightened "some things" and therefore charged me for that and for labor! So if they had checked the noise on the first day there would have been no extra charge so I guess they deliberately delayed to the next day so they can charge again. And when I asked what they tightened his answer was - "Oh some things, they were loose so we tightened it up now there will be no noise!" Rip off, avoid at any cost.

Repair shop with good technical skills. This is based on my recent experience with them. This place may charge what other reviewers consider an exuberant amount of money for its service. But I have to say, these guys have the expertise to diagnose hard-to-fix problems. For the most part, I think they are honest with the amount of work they have to do to.

My car had brake problem. I went to numerous shops to try to get a diagnosis. I went to the dealer, they said it would take four hours just to diagnose the problem, with hourly larbor cost of over $100. Be careful of the purely mechanical shops, by the way. I went to one such shop. They visually checked the brakes, not being able to pin down the problem, they suggested replacing the rotors which were rusty. Rotors in all cars were somewhat rusty, as I later learned. Which, as I should have known, did not fix the problem.

Because this shop is close to where I live and a friend of mine had his car fixed there, I brought my car in. They are a small shop so they give every customer personal attention. I left the car for the day and first they took an hour to do the initial diagnosis. After that they said they would need two more hours to tear down the front end to do further analysis which I authorized. In the end they found the ABS computer to be faulty and said they would need an extra hour to replace it. I didn't buy the part from them. I bought one from eBay and they put it in and voila, the problem was fixed. They do charge a premium price for their part compared with what I could get from eBay. Be wary of the owner guy, he'll try to sell you their parts. Otherwise he's OK. It was a pleasure to work with the manager guy Gary. He appeared to be honest and straightforward. Also, try to negotiate a price (or hours) before any fix is done and stick firmly to that price.

So the essence is - don't take your easy-to-fix, labor intense problem to thse guys. The other mama and papa shops can fix those kind of problems just fine.

Signifacantly overcharge. Charged an extra 100$ on parts and extra 50$ charge which hasn't been discussed. Would avoid at all costs

Worst Experience - Would avoid at all cost.. My car wasn't starting and as it is the nearest auto repair, I towed the vehicle to this place. The guys in the desk were very lethargic. They took one day to diagnose the problem (initially they said, it would be 65$). Then they said need to change the alternator and battery for which the total cost they quoted was 753$. When I checked with other auto repair, it was like 480-550$s. But since I already left the car with them, I thought of going ahead for the final negotiated quote of 690$. For battery replacement they charged 210$s. When I check with Pep Boys, it would have cost me at the most 150$ with 3 years warranty. Even they didn't give me any warranty card for the battery. This was my first and last experience with them.
