Editorial Review for The Bowery Electric – by Justine Goodman
In Short
Despite its ever-chic locale, suit-clad bouncer and mysterious, windowless facade, this Bowery rock bar recalls a bygone era, before bottle service and girl-to-guy ratios entered the nightlife lexicon. With its friendly door policy, neighborhood feel and 12 beers on tap, Bowery Electric caters to a range of artists, students, locals and anyone else who appreciates good DJs, good company, and good (reasonably priced) cocktails. But it's no local dive, with a sommelier-approved wine list, specialty cocktails and tastefully understated design accents like vintage travel trunks, mohair couches, and a long, custom-made Wenge wood bar.
Hits: It's low-key but not low-class, and with two large, sweeping rooms and ample seating, there's space to rock out or max out as you like.
Misses: The crowd may be a little thin, even on the weekends, but with the other bars intent on measuring success in terms of who they turn away, Bowery Electric is poised to scoop them up and keep them coming back for more.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkIf wine, mixed drinks and drafts don't do it for you, there's also an extensive selection of scotches, bourbons and tequilas, plus a stellar variety of bottled brews.
The ExtrasNo contemporary New York rock bar would be complete without some celebrity backing, and this one is no different--Bowery Electric's principal's include popular singer/ songwriter Jesse Malin and nightlife impresario Johnny T, of Motherf*cker party fame.
Fun FactIn addition to being a play on the title of Walt Whitman's "I Sing the Body Electric," the bar's name is also a tribute to the old Bowery Electric Festival at CBGB and the Bowery Electrical Supply Co, which occupied the space for over 50 years.

It is a nice place to hang out but there are few things that they have to work on like service but the place itself is nice.
