Was not won over. I heard from somebody that this was a great spot for a roti or some other Indian fast food, but I was less than impressed. My advice would be to walk down Bleecker Street to Gandhi-Cafe and pay a little more for a very good meal, or walk the other way to East 6th Street and get a lot more for your money. Sangam is quick and the quality is not bad, but quantities are small and the food was so-so. I had a sloppy joe-like spicy lamb dish with one piece of bread, a couple of tablespoons of picked onions (which were good), and a soda for $11+. That is not a good deal.

Best Biryani in NYC. Hands down, the best biryani in NYC today. We're UES's Indian and love the authentic lamb biryani. Just like Hyderabad! And they'll make party size biryanis. We know tons of friends who also make the trip to them just for the biryani. Need to bring your own wine. Great value.

Forget it!. The food is reasonably priced but the crappy service means I will never go back here. I have had delivery from here a few times and each time it is such an arduous process because the person answering the phone does not even speak basic English. This last occasion I had to spell the name of my street 4 times and he still did not understand. One hour later when my order still hadn't arrived I called back and a different guy answered the phone who said the previous guy did not write down my address correctly so they couldn't deliver it. Instead of calling me to check the address they just sat there waiting for me to call. He did not even apologize for making me wait, instead he just said "well, what do you want me to do, I wasn't here to answer the phone!" - like it's my fault they don't have staff who speak English. Go to Kathi Roll Company instead - at least they can understand your order and the food actually arrives!

Good Food , Great Price. Gem of a place perhaps serving the best biriyani in town. They have a limited menu. After multiple visits to this place my favorite item on the menu is the Nargisi Qeema Paratha Roll. Very different from the kati roll which you find at other places. Spciy Ground chicken with boiled and shredded egg rolled into a paratha. They do a good job of keeping it non-greasy ...

Authentic food and friendly service. It's a small cafe and it's easy to miss ? but well worth visiting. They do a smart thing here by keeping a limited menu so they can focus on making a few things perfectly instead of trying to making a ton of things that are only OK. It's not fancy, but it's very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the food is 100% authentic.

Best biriyani in NY. I went for lunch after reading a blurb about the biriyani in NY Magazine. I love biriyani, but restaurants rarely get it right. Without a doubt, it was the best biriyani I've had in a restaurant, ever. It's a small place with a small menu, but they know good food.

Bonuses: it's cheap (!!), and despite the small menu there are ample vegetarian options; the chai is excellent as well

Great cheap Indian!. Stopped in on a whim after seeing this place open in January and chatted with one of the owners while my food was being prepared by his friend's wife. Small menu, yes, but fantastic taste and you just can't beat the price! The firni dessert is really good, and how can you go wrong with 2 vegetarian rolls for $8 that taste amazingly fresh? The chicken biryani is a great entree, and the samosas are wonderful finger food. I'm definitely going back, especially since the owner told me the menu would have changes according to the season.

Carefully cooked biryani at curry row prices.. In Short
Though the menu is brief at this Indian hole-in-the-wall, where the most noticeable adornment is the Bollywood pop soundtrack, the seasoning certainly isn't one-note. Spices are ground on premises and the menu promises no "pre-packaged masalas." Chicken or veggie biryani make up the limited entree choices, while samosas and rolls satisfy those just stopping in for a snack. Sweet offerings are short-listed, too, with only rice pudding and halwa for dessert.
