BERRY BISTRO is By Far the BEST
by jollycamper
I love Berry Bistro. My husband and I eat there often; sometimes with our son and sometimes for our romantic "date nights." The food is always wonderful, especially the outrageously delicious homemade desserts. The owners and wait staff are terrific people. We had my son's birthday party there. The intimate atmosphere made for a really great party. The owners even made special kid-friendly dishes at my request. I am and will always be a repeat customer.
- Pros: Food is gormet, intimate and great for dates, yet kid-friendly. Great brunch & desserts
- Cons: Wine license but no liquor -- but who cares?!
Enjoyable neighborhood restaurant

Strangely enough there are not many good lunch places above st marks place in the east village. I've lived in the area for 7 years and I never seem to find a place to get a good sandwich or salad. The few that exist are overcrowded and not worth spending an afternoon on line (I never understood why you can't make a reservation for lunch). In any case Berry Bistro is a great addition to the neighborhood. I went there with my wife and daughter and was very satisfied. The food was solid and wasn't overpriced. I had a greek salad and my wife had a fish po boy and then we split a crepe with nutella and banana. The ingredients were all tasty and they didn't cheap out on their produce (surprisingly hard to get good tomatoes in manhattan). If you are looking for a solid lunch in the neighborhood its worth a trip. Next move is to try them for dinner....I will report back.
- Pros: Solid food at good price
- Cons: could be a little cozier

My friend and I were on our way to a meeting and we needed to eat quickly. We saw this little place on the way and the prices seemed reasonable. It was small and cozy with lavender walls and a soothing atmosphere. We ordered the sauted shrimp on couscous with spinach and the grilled organic chicken breast on pesto toast. Each dish included a salad with fresh greens and lite vinaigrette. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and was seasoned just right. The chicken was tender and the pesto had a delicious subtle taste that was not overpowering. We both ordered water and they gave us lemon-iced water, which was a welcome change from plain tap water. The service was wonderful, from the moment we opened the door until we left we were given fantastic accommodation. Since we were strapped for time we did not get to try their deserts, but we are definitely going back for a complete meal. I definitely recommend this place to everyone.
- Pros: Great healthy good Food
